11 Most Hated MTV Reality Stars

MTV has created quite the reputation for itself when it comes to the heavily saturated reality TV genre. Along with having a lot of reality shows, it is also the starting place for some of reality TV’s most hated people and personalities. For the most part, reality stars are criticized and hated on a whole different level from other celebrities, and MTV has a penchant for producing some of the worst of the worst. Here are MTV’s 11 most hated reality stars:

11. Heidi Montag

Heidi Montag has been on quite the rollercoaster ride of fame, and it all started when she became friends with Laguna Beach star Lauren Conrad in 2005. Thanks to the friendship, Montag was cast in the spin-off series The Hills alongside Conrad, and quickly became one of MTV’s most recognizable stars. Unfortunately it didn’t take long for audiences to dislike Montag as her friendship with Conrad crumbled, but it all came to a head with her relationship with Spencer Pratt. At that point she turned into the kind of reality star who just wants attention and fame which included her undergoing 10 plastic surgeries in one day.

10. Tony Raines

Fans of MTV’s The Real World and The Challenge are well aware who Tony Raines is. He first appeared on the 30th season of the Real World for Real World: Skeletons and then was seen on The Challenge: Bloodlines and The Challenge: Rivals III. At first, Tony seemed charming, but it didn’t take long for audiences to realize it was all a facade to see how many women he could land. He trashed his exes Elizabeth and Alyssa when he was on the Real World, and began a romance with roommate Madison Walls, but after he and Madison got pregnant after filming, they mysteriously broke up. Only months later it was revealed his ex, Alyssa, was also pregnant with his baby. Hate for Tony was solidified, however, after he hooked up with Christina LeBlanc in the first few hours of being at the house for The Challenge: Bloodlines after just talking about how happy he and Madison were and how excited they were for their baby.

9. Puck Rainey

David “Puck” Rainey has gone down in MTV and Real World history as the original Real World badboy, so there is no way he couldn’t be included on this list. Rainey appeared on only the third season of the show, which means that, even though there have been many worse stars on the show since, he was the very first to be hated for his arrogant, ignorant and repulsive behavior. From his complete lack of personal hygiene to his disregard of the others in the house, there was no liking Puck and, if it was bad for MTV viewers, it was worse for those who lived with him, which caused them to eventually kick him out.

8. Ashley Mitchell

Ashley Mitchell is another MTV reality star known for her time on The Real World: Ex-Plosion and The Challenge: Rivals III, and as one of the most recent, she sticks out vividly for her behavior. At first, Ashley was simply irritating, as someone always is on The Real World, with her “better than you” attitude and the belief that she was the Queen of San Francisco, but it didn’t take long for viewers to hate her. During one of her drunken rages, Ashley said some very hateful things and eventually told housemate Cory Wharton “my family would own yours,” obviously referencing her family’s wealth and Cory’s skin color, which was without a doubt one of the most shocking and unbelievably ignorant things said on the show. Fortunately, the right moves were made and she was kicked out of the house after the incident.

7. Jenelle Evans

It is safe to say that MTV’s Teen Mom series has become one of the network’s most successful shows, as well as one of the most controversial. Despite millions of fans tuning in to both Teen Mom OG and Teen Mom 2 season after season, there are a few of the stars that are consistently criticized and ripped apart in the media and on social media, one of the worst being Teen Mom 2′s Jenelle Evans. Although she has gained more fans and supporters in the past year, her history has left her widely hated by many of the show’s viewers. It all started when she refused to take care of her own son, Jace, after having him at 16 and partying so much that she eventually signed over custody to her mother. Since, Evans has been arrested around 15 times, been addicted to heroin, married once, and always has a new “love of her life.” Her irresponsible and sometimes dangerous behavior all while having another son and now a daughter on the way has made her one of the most hated and disrespected MTV reality stars out there.

6. Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino

At the time MTV’s Jersey Shore went to air in 2009, many already hated the series for making a bunch of partiers famous for no reason, but still many tuned in making it a huge hit for six seasons. While there were issues with everyone in the house, one that really seemed to rub audiences the wrong way was Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino. Mike was rude, arrogant, and awful to women, and thought he was much tougher than he actually was, which didn’t make it too hard for him to be hated. After his Jersey Shore fame, he didn’t make it any better for himself after getting arrested for a fight at a tanning salon, and then charged with tax fraud that same year.

5. Adam Royer

By now, fans of the Real World, are aware that the show seems to cast similar personalities every season, and one that has become well-known is the arrogant “bad boy,” which without a doubt was Adam Royer for 2011’s Las Vegas season. Royer treated others, especially Nany, horribly and completely disrespected his girlfriend back home, but that was just the tip of the iceberg for him. Although getting drunk is just what you do on the Real World, Royer took it to a whole different level to the point where his drunken rages were scary and he actually did damage to the hotel without any care about what he was doing. His actions made him not only hated, but one of the few that was not only kicked off the show, but kicked out of and banned from the hotel.

4. Adam Lind

In addition to Teen Mom‘s female stars, fans have gotten to know the “Teen Dads” as well, and while some of them are less than perfect examples of partners and fathers, Adam Lind is the epitome of awful. Going back to his early days on 16 & Pregnant, Lind never treated Chelsea with respect and continuously cheated, but most importantly, for most of his daughter Aubree’s life, he has been absent. Instead of spending his time with his daughter he would just leave her with his parents, refused to pay child support and continuously threatened Chelsea with going to court even though he had no chance of getting custody. He has always been more focused on his cars, and recently working out, than actually showing up for important things for his daughters. He really doesn’t make it hard to be hated.

3. Nia Moore

Real World: Portland was looking to be a rather boring season in comparison to others, that is until Hurricane Nia swept in. It truly seems that even the MTV producers didn’t know what they were in for when they brought Nia in to replace Joi. Nia’s arrogance is almost unmatched as she openly talked about being better than everyone, only dating rich athletes, and seemingly truly believed she was important and somewhat famous. Although the outrageous things she said were annoying, her actions were truly jaw-dropping. She attacked many of her housemates in violent rages not often seen on the show, using things like lamps and hair dryers, and her own fists, to strike those she was living with repeatedly. Most shocking of all, however, was that she was not kicked out of the house.

2. Spencer Pratt

Spencer Pratt is the quintessential reality TV villain. His smarmy and slightly creepy look was enough for most audiences to instantly turn against him after he was cast in The Hills when he began dating Heidi Montag. Pratt stirred up most of the drama, and lies, on the show which was the focus of almost the entire series and also unfortunately ended the real life friendship between Lauren Conrad and Heidi. Pratt continued to antagonize others, and make himself into one of reality TV’s most hated people with stints on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and Celebrity Big Brother. Pratt and Montag have now admitted that they lived well beyond their means and actual celebrity status which has led them to serious financial problems.

1. Farrah Abraham

Last but certainly not least is the infamous Farrah Abraham. Chances are you don’t have to watch Teen Mom to know who Farrah Abraham is, and largely she is not well liked. To many, Abraham is known from her adult tape and subsequent career in the “adult entertainment” industry which included her own line of sex toys. Teen Mom OG fans know her as a seemingly unstable person who apparently lives in an alternate reality where she is a nice and caring person. Farrah’s attitudes towards others, including her own daughter and especially her mother Debra, has had a major effect on how people feel about Farrah, and she is most definitely hated.
