Now that Days Of Our Lives (DOOL) has left its long-time home at NBC, soap opera star Deidre Hall wants viewers to know that the show will not change just because it’s on Peacock.
In a new interview with The Wrap, Hall is aware of DOOL viewers’ concerns during this transition. In fact, she spends much of the interview reaching out to fans who are still on the fence about subscribing to the streaming platform.
“We’re doing it exactly the same as we always have and will continue doing it that way,” Hall confirmed. The star’s reassurance comes on the heels of executive producer Ken Corday’s suggestion that moving to Peacock would allow the soap to get edgier.
“Come spring, we will be able to say and do things that are a bit more titillating than on broadcast,” Corday said in August. “It’s still Days Of Our Lives, but it’s not your mother’s Days Of Our Lives.”
However, Hall doesn’t believe that the soap will follow through on that suggestion.

“Our audience is not changing and we respect who they are and what their sensitivities are,” she explained. “We’re not going to become a blatantly sexual or a vile language program. We’re not going to do that; that isn’t who we are, and it’s not who our audience is.”
Hall acknowledged that DOOL likes to walk the tightrope between traditional family values and outrageousness – after all, they’ve done some wild things in the past!
“Our model has always been multi-generational families, doing something topical, human interest and of social interest,” Hall continued. “I think in those ways, we’re always family oriented. We’re always topical. Our show-runner, Ken Corday, and our head writer, Ron Carlivati, stay pretty much on the cutting edge.”
This interview could be construed as the latest about-face from DOOL, as they try to win back viewers who refuse to pay up to watch their favorite Salemites. However, Hall might have gone a tad overboard in her pitch.
“We’re there for you when nobody comes to your house at Christmas,” Hall stated to DOOL viewers. “We’re there carving the turkey and trimming the tree and opening gifts.”
“We’re a comfort, we’re company,” the actress added. “We’re not just entertainment.”
