Former Bachelorette contestant Tyler Cameron broke his silence following his mother Andrea Cameron’s sudden passing.

The 27-year-old posted a heart-rending tribute on Monday, March 2, via Instagram, writing, “Today heaven gained an angel.”

“We will love and miss our mother dearly. She will live on through us and through those that she has had an impact on,” Tyler wrote, sharing a photo that shows himself holding on to his mother’s hand.

As Tyler continues to mourn his mother’s passing, he has encouraged his followers to “tell those you love that you love them.”

The reality star has also asked fans to “take this time to celebrate [Andrea’s] life in private. Thank you for all your love and support.”

A source told PEOPLE on Monday that Andrea, a Florida realtor, had passed after being taken to the hospital on Thursday, February 27.

On Thursday afternoon, the Bachelorette alum announced via Twitter that a sudden family emergency involving his mother had come up, which caused him to cancel an upcoming group run he was going to host with Good Morning America – that he had been promoting on his social media earlier on Thursday.

“Have to cancel GMA group run tomorrow. Family emergency,” he wrote on Twitter. “Please pray for my mom and my family.”

Tyler had a very close relationship with their mother. Although he moved to New York City after his stint on The Bachelorette, he maintained a strong relationship with Andrea.

Last November, Andrea came to town to support Tyler as he ran the New York City Marathon ad posed with him after he finished the race.

“So grateful for all of the support that I got from my family, friends, and BN! Couldn’t have done this race with out all of y’all. So thankful for all of the support,” he wrote via Instagram at the time. “NYC marathon was a day I will always cherish. So much love and joy being shared from stranger to stranger. Everyone needs to go check out their local marathon and feel that love and energy. Nothing like it. I will also never forget when pops pulled up on me at the club dancing. Had us all dying. So grateful. Love y’all❤️.”
