Celebs Who Met Their Significant Others On Social Media

The popularity of so many different social media platforms has allowed fans an inside look at the rich of the famous and has given celebrities a way to connect with their fans like never before. As well as connecting with fans, however, social media has also helped celebrities reach out to each other which has resulted in collaborations, friendships and sometimes even romances. Here are 11 celebrities who met their significant others on social media:

12. Wells Adams and Sarah Hyland

One of the best things about social media is that it can bring two stars from different facets of the industry together and that is how things worked out for former Bachelorette contestant Wells Adams and Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland. The two fueled romance rumors when they stepped out for Halloween in a couples’ costume but it wasn’t until a few weeks later that Adams opened up about the relationship. During an appearance on The Morning Breath, he revealed that the whole thing started because of Twitter. “The internet — it’s amazing,” he joked when asked how they met and added, “I’m amazed how smart the internet is. Because I just assume everyone on Twitter is an idiot, and then I’m like, ‘Wow!’” When asked for more details about their relationship, he said it is all in his social media. “There’s nothing really to say. Like, if you want to know — to be fair, if you want to know anything, just look on my social media.”

11. Calvin Harris and Rita Ora

Before his highly-publicized relationship with Taylor Swift, Calvin Harris dated singer and actress Rita Ora for just over a year from 2013-2014. Although everyone is well aware now that their relationship ended with a pretty nasty Twitter feud, it began on the social media platform as well. Ora revealed that Harris reached out to her on Twitter before they met in real life, and when they did meet it was instant chemistry. Fitting that they would then announce the end of their relationship on Twitter before their feud began.

10. Ariana Grande and Jai Brooks

Jai Brooks proved that going the extra mile is all the difference needed to be noticed, and perhaps loved, by your celebrity crush. The YouTube star put together a video explaining why she should date him and also tweeted at her before her mother showed her the video and convinced Grande to give it a shot. Luckily for Brooks, it worked and the two went on to date off-and-on for about two years before finally calling it quits in 2014.

9. Bella Thorne and Gregg Sulkin

Although they had been friends for over five years before they officially began dating, it was online flirtations that turned things romantic between Bella Thorne and Gregg Sulkin. After Thorne posted multiple photos of Sulkin on her Twitter, fans encouraged her to date the handsome actor, and shortly after the pair went public. After getting serious for more than a year, the young stars announced their breakup in August 2016 with Thorne tweeting, “Things just didn’t end up working the way we had hoped. But I’ll always love the bub.”

The two began dating in November 2013 after Young had taken to his Twitter account to declare that Azalea was his “#womancrushwednesday” and hit on her via social media until she responded. The two went on to become engaged in June 2015 at Young’s 30th birthday party, but everything fell apart a year later when a video was leaked showing Young bragging about cheating on his fiancee. Fittingly, she took to Twitter to confirm the worst about Young, writing, “This is just like a second shot to the chest. And I feel like I don’t even know who the hell it is I’ve been loving all this time. People in this world really are f–ked up.”
