Chandler Massey, who plays Will Horton, and Freddie Smith, who plays Sonny Kiriakis, will be exiting Days Of Our Lives (DOOL). The pair play an LGBTQ couple who were married on the soap last year.

“It was not our choice,” Smith told fans, announcing the news in a Twitter video. “We were looking forward to staying on and keeping the story going. But I do understand there is a lot happening with Days Of Our Lives.”

This news comes on the heels of Corday Productions’ decision in November to drop the contracts of the entire cast. In renegotiating contracts, it looks like some cast members won’t be returning. Galen Gering, who portrays Rafe Hernandez, will also be exiting DOOL in the coming weeks.

Chandler has portrayed Will since 2010 and Smith, who said their exit is “sad and shocking,” has been portraying Sonny since 2011.

“I will miss Salem so much!!” Smith posted. “Thank you all for the incredible love and support throughout the years. I really feel we told a love story that will live on forever.”

There’s still no word on how Will and Sonny will exit Salem. Keep watching DOOL to find out!
