After almost seven years together, it’s been reported that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West may be headed for divorce in the near future.
According to multiple sources, Kim Kardashian is preparing to file for divorce from Kanye, whom she married in May 2014. “He knows that she’s done. She has had enough, and she told him that she wants some space to figure out her future,” a source shared with PEOPLE.
The source added that West is preparing himself for the filing but doesn’t know when it will be. “He’s okay. He’s sad, but okay. He knows the inevitable will happen, and he knows that it’s coming soon,” the source continued.
In December, a source revealed to PEOPLE that the couple “very much live separate lives. Kim has work and projects that are important to her, and Kanye has his,” the source said. “Their lives don’t overlap much.”
Kim and Kanye had a tumultuous summer for their relationship with West’s unsuccessful presidential run and rumors of divorce. During his campaign rallies in July, Kanye shared deeply personal revelations about his family and marriage during a new cycle of his bipolar disorder.
Kim addressed the drama publicly calling out Kanye’s diagnosis and asking fans for compassion. The following September Kanye tweeted a series of troubling tweets that seemed to show the couple’s marriage was struggling.
“It’s the same thing over and over and over again,” a source told PEOPLE at the time. “He’s on very thin ice with her right now, and she’s truly trying to decide what to do to protect the kids, but also her own sanity. The whole thing is discouraging and difficult for her.”
