Sofia Mattsson, star of General Hospital (GH), has announced the arrival of her baby boy. In fact, the little bundle arrived a month ago!
Mattsson took to her Instagram on the evening of Wednesday, August 25th, to announce the big news with a photo of her handsome newborn.
“Happiest 4 weeks ever with this little guy,” she wrote in the caption. “He joined us on 7/26/21 and stole my heart completely!!”
She hasn’t revealed the baby boy’s name as of yet, but this is her first child with husband, Thomas Payne.

GH co-stars were quick to share their excitement. Briana Nicole Henry (Jordan) called the little bundle a “lucky little guy” to have such a “beautiful, strong, glowing mama”, while Eden McCoy (Josslyn) exclaimed, “OMG, congratulations!”.
While Josh Swickard (Chase) was reduced to heart-eyed emojis, Katelyn MacMullen wrote, “I love you so much, beautiful mama!! I can’t wait to meet him!”
If the late birth announcement is a surprise to Mattsson’s fans, it’s in keeping with the stunning way she announced that she was expecting — with a where-did-that-come-from sized baby bump photo just two months ago!
At that time, Mattsson reflected on sharing the joys of expecting with her GH alter ego, Sasha Gilmore, who is still awaiting her baby in Port Charles.
“I’m so grateful to be sharing this pregnancy journey with her,” Mattsson said of her on-screen character.
