General Hospital To Run Flashback Friday Episodes

General Hospital (GH) has announced it will air four new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays, ending each week with a Flashback Friday episode, beginning this week.

Due to the recent production halt of all four North American soaps, ABC has a limited number of new episodes that have already been filmed. The flashback episodes will each feature an introduction from a cast member. This week’s episode will begin with an intro by Laura Wright, who plays Carly Corinthos.

In honor of GH’s 57th anniversary on April 1, the April 3 flashback will feature the sudser’s 56th Anniversary episode, in which Port Charles residents gathered to honor Gail Baldwin (Susan Brown). Gail sent everyone on a scavenger hunt throughout the hospital, hoping to remind them of important moments in their past.

Running a classic episode each week will allow GH to air original episodes until May 22. If production has not started back up by then, which seems likely, the network will then have to start airing reruns.

The Young And The Restless also recently announced it will air classic episodes once a week during its production halt. There’s still no word on if its sister soap Bold And the Beautiful will do the same. Days Of Our Lives (DOOL) has about eight months of episodes filmed, so DOOL viewers will see original episodes until October.
