12 Celebrities Who Have Been Blacklisted
Hollywood isn’t the easiest place to navigate – just ask these stars! They all seemed to have really promising careers at one point; however, they have all ended up on Hollywood’s blacklist for a variety of different reasons. Some of them were definitely deserving of this dishonor, but not all of them. Sometimes, big wigs in the industry just like to go after the little guys because they can. Many of the more deserving celebrities really don’t understand what happened to their careers, but we think we might have a clue as to what went wrong. Here are 12 celebrities who have been blacklisted by Hollywood!
12. Vanessa Marquez
Vanessa Marquez had a recurring role on the hospital drama ER during the ‘90s playing Nurse Wendy Goldman and she alleges that George Clooney helped blacklist her after she spoke up about the harassment that was occurring on the set of the hit show. Clooney has denied the allegations. “I had nothing to do with casting. I was an actor and only an actor. If she was told I was involved in any decision about her career then she was lied to. The fact that I couldn’t affect her career is only surpassed by the fact that I wouldn’t,” he said in a statement. Following her stint on ER, she has only appeared in a handful of roles.
11. Mel Gibson
After his 2006 arrest where he spewed anti-semantic remarks at the police officers arresting him, Mel Gibson’s has been a persona non-grata in Hollywood. Between 2006 and 2010, he only had one film role in Edge of Darkness. Then, in 2010, when he was caught on tape going on a racist rant and making death threats against his ex, Oksana Grigorieva, any comeback for him became even less likely as the talent agency William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, which represented him, dropped him as a client. It’s only been in the last couple of years that Hollywood has begun to forgive him. His movie, Hacksaw Ridge, received critical acclaim, as well as six Academy Award nominations, including one for Best Director for Gibson.
