We have seen a lot in 2014, including some pretty crazy hook ups. Some of them have lasted while others ended almost as quickly as they began; however, none of that really matters. All that truly matters is that they happened – or, in some cases, are currently happening. The vast majority of these couples have really thrown us for a loop. We never saw these hookups coming from a mile away but, now that they’ve happened, we can’t imagine it any other way. To celebrate and remember all the shocking celebrity hookups of 2014, we decided to throw a list together. Enjoy!

9. Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Martin

Following his amicable uncoupling with Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Martin wasted no time and jumped right back into the game. He was reportedly hooking up with Alexa Chung immediately after he split from his wife and, once that cooled down, he started dating Jennifer Lawrence. These two are rumored to have really hit it off because she is the opposite of Paltrow. Lawrence isn’t into clean living and refuses to deprive herself of anything.

Naturally, a pairing like this couldn’t last. Martin has a ton of baggage. He is still married to Paltrow and she reportedly still calls the shots. She is rumored to draw up schedules for him so that they can play happy family with their children. Some say that Lawrence didn’t quite understand his relationship with his ex. All she knew was that Paltrow was still a pretty big part of Martin’s life, which made things kind of awkward for them and their fledgling relationship.

8. Michelle Rodriguez and Cara Delevingne

Michelle Rodriguez and Cara Delevingne first went public with their relationship at a New York Knicks game this past January. They showed up together and looked pretty loved up. It wasn’t until February, however, that Rodriguez confirmed that they were a couple. “It’s going really well. She’s so cool. When we started hanging out I just thought she was awesome, and we have the best time together. She’s hard though. You wouldn’t want to mess with her in a fight,” she said.

These two reportedly broke up back in April. Rumor has it that Delevingne was having difficulty with juggling her hectic work schedule and her relationship. A source said that Rodriguez then started to go all “gooey-eyed” over the newly single Evan Rachel Wood, so Delevingne decided to cut ties on move on. Wood has denied having any involvement in the couple’s split. The only thing that is for sure is that Delevingne and Rodriguez are no more.

7. Miley Cyrus and Patrick Schwarzenegger

Patrick Schwarzenegger has had a big crush on Miley Cyrus for years. Back in 2011, he told Details magazine that he had his eye set on the “Hannah Montana” star. He finally got his chance with her this year. These two have been dating for the past month and things seem to be going strong for the two young lovebirds.

Even though Cyrus and Schwarzenegger seem pretty into each other, it doesn’t look as though his mother, Maria Shriver, is super excited about her son’s relationship with the controversial pop star. Pictures from Cyrus’ 22^nd birthday party, which featured her riding a mechanical bull shape of a male member topless, surfaced online and her outrageous antics have caused Shriver to have second thoughts about the budding relationship. If we were her, we wouldn’t approve either but, as Selena Gomez says, the heart wants what the heart wants. She’s going to have to wait for her son to come to his senses.

Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed’s relationship came out of nowhere. He had recently broken up with his co-star from “Vampire Dairies, Nina Dobrev, and she had just ended her marriage with Paul McDonald after only two years. Once Somerhalder and Reed took their relationship public, these two wasted no time getting serious. Three weeks after they were spotted together at the farmer’s market, they moved in together.

These two are still as smitten as ever. They have shared their love of each other all over Instagram and sources say that Somerhalder thinks that Reed is the one. His ex, Dobrev, is reportedly have a tough time dealing with him getting so serious so quickly after their breakup. Reed visits Somerhalder on the set of “Vampire Dairies” everyday and their public displays of affection are really starting to get to her. After splitting with Cara Delevingne, Michelle Rodriguez quickly jumped into a hot rebound relationship with Zac Efron. Rumor has it that these two have been hooking up on an on-again, off-again basis since 2011. Whenever they are both single, they get together. Their relationship, which began this past summer, only lasted two months. Things ended after these two had a big fight in Ibiza, Spain. It turns out that he was more into her than she was into him.

According to one of their friends, their personality differences and relationship goals contributed to their split. “Zac has an addictive personality, which rolls over to his women. He invests into something and falls hard – fast,” the source said. “He really fell hard for Michelle, and she wanted to just have fun and not have a super serious relationship. Plus, Michelle is interested more in women than men – so that was an issue as well.”

4. Michael Sheen and Sarah Silverman

Michael Sheen and Sarah Silverman are one odd couple. These hooked up this past February. He had broken up with Rachel McAdams the year before because he wasn’t ready to settle down while she had dated Jimmy Kimmel on an on-again/off-again basis for years. Sheen and Silverman are reportedly really into each other. They have been spotted all over the place, engaging in heavy PDA sessions.

On “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Silverman discussed her new relationship with her ex boyfriend. “He’s the best at what he does, he’s so good,” she said. “I think he is. I just, I really am so happy to have him be a part of my life and to get to be a part of his life. And I realized, like, I don’t think I ever really knew what love was. I don’t think I’ve ever really been in love before, I realized, you know what I mean?” The audience thought it was pretty funny!

Love her!!” she tweeted. Moennig responded with, “@evanrachelwood you should have said hi. :).” The flirtation kept going for months. After Wood broke things off with Bell, she took her flirtation with “The L Word” star offline.

These two dated for a few weeks this past fall. They were spotted cozying on a couple of different occasions. The source who confirmed the breakup said that they might only be taking a break. Considering how sad Wood’s tweets were after the breakup was announced, it sounds like she was taking it pretty hard, probably harder than she took the breakup she had with Bell. We hope these two give their relationship another go in the future. They looked way too good together!

Things have gotten pretty serious between Theron and Penn. She talked about their friendship-turned-relationship with Vogue. “Sean and I have known each other for 18 years. Finally in March, he went public with his relationship with her. It didn’t take him long to lock this one down. After only four months of dating, Clooney and Alamuddin were engaged and, this past September, they were married. It looks like he’s finally met his match. Unlike his previous girlfriends, she has a lot more going for her. She is incredibly educated and she has a lucrative job (as a lawyer). Alamuddin doesn’t really need anything from Clooney the same way many of his other girlfriends did.
