GH’s Kirsten Storms Recovering From Brain Surgery

On Friday, June 4th, actress Kirsten Storms announced that she is recovering from brain surgery.

The General Hospital star, 37, took to her Instagram stories to share details on what she’s described as “an interesting last couple of days”.

“So, not really spoken about this much or at all actually. Less than 48 hours ago I had brain surgery,” she shared, sporting a neck brace. “Emme is taking care of me until I get to my at-home nurse.”

Friend and fellow actress Emme Rylan can be seen in the driver’s seat. In a caption written overtop of the video, Storms wrote “Sorry for the shock you guys”.

The surgery was required to remove a noncancerous cyst.

“What they had to drain and remove was not cancer. I want to clarify that right now before the Internet goes crazy wild with rumors about this,” she declared. “I had a very large cyst that had split into two and the doctors said it was so full, the pressure was very noticeable when they opened up my skull. That sounds so weird.”

The actress also clarified that the video was not recorded immediately post-surgery.

“I had the surgery a couple days ago, so yes, I was in the hospital for a few days,” she added. “We’re not taking me home right after brain surgery.”

Despite the invasive procedure, Storms was in good spirits over the course of the video, discussing with Rylan her plans to knit a lot during her recovery time.

“There really is no filter that’s going to make this better for me right now,” she deadpanned.

“Let’s see if I can speak a foreign language now. Maybe I can learn things,” she joked, summing up her condition by saying she feels  “like s–t”.

“Pardon my language but I feel like I’ve earned it today,” she laughed.

Although this isn’t her first break from the GH canvas due to medical reasons, Storms vowed to return to the show as soon as she is healthy enough.

“So I will be on the mend for the next several weeks,” she added. “But I will be back at work once this is over with.”

We wish you a speedy recovery, Kirsten!
