Doug Davidson Reveals His Young And The Restless Return Date

Young And The Restless News Round-Up For The Week (September 19, 2022)

Doug Davidson will be returning to The Young And The Restless (Y&R) as Police Chief Paul Williams on November 12 and again in mid-December. The actor announced the news on his Twitter account in response to a fan’s query.

“12th of November and the 17th and 18th of December I think,” Davidson posted. “Beyond that, I don’t know.”

His last appearance on the sudser was on September 10, when he and Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) arrested Zoe Hardisty (Anna Grace Barlow) for spiking the Sangria punch at the Grand Phoenix hotel opening.

Fans were thrilled when Davidson returned to Y&R this past March. He had announced in September 2018, as reported by Fame10, that he’d been let go after playing the character for 40 years on the soap. At the time, the news stunned longtime viewers.

After Executive Producer Mal Young was let go in December 2018 and writer Josh Griffith took over the reins, many changes were made, including bringing back fan favorites like Michelle Stafford, who portrays Phyllis Summers, and Melissa Claire Egan, who plays Chelsea Lawson.

Davidson has been on the Y&R since 1978 and has had multiple Daytime Emmy nominations since then. He won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in 2013.

7. New Character Alert

Actor Jon Briddell will join the Y&R cast this coming Friday, November 8th, playing Eric Vanderway (or someone everyone believes to be Eric). Theo has stated before that his dad had passed on, so how this character will be introduced into storylines should be very interesting. Just how and why did Eric make his family believe he was gone?

6. Chelsea Tries To Cover Her Tracks

On the other side of town, Y&R spoilers reveal that Chelsea will work hard to cover up something she has done. Could this be in connection to Simon Black entering the Genoa City scene? The two could be connected, so perhaps Lawson was up to something in Vegas, or is hiding what she’s been up to lately.

5. Chloe & Kevin

Y&R spoilers suggest that Kevin and Chloe will do some undercover work. November teasers have stated that the super couple plan to help Chelsea battle an adversary, so perhaps they are either helping her with the situation she is in this week, or this has to do with Adam in some fashion.

Speaking of, Y&R spoilers imply that Adam will twist the truth this week, which is no shocker at all. He’s outright lied to people in the past, so the fact that he is mincing words doesn’t seem too far-fetched. The only real question is, who will he “bend the truth” to in the coming days? Chelsea? Connor? Phyllis? The list really could be endless.
