Cast Of Sixteen Candles: How Much Are They Worth Now?

(c)Universal Pictures

Sixteen Candles was released back in 1984 and was the perfect American coming of age film starring the classic ’80s teen movie muse Molly Ringwald. The film was written and directed by John Hughes during the peak of his career when he released a string of successful films like The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink and, of course, Sixteen Candles. It’s been over 30 years since the film was first released and with such a young cast at the time, many of these actors have gone on to create hugely successful careers while others disappeared from Hollywood all together. Check out this list to take a look back at the main cast of the film and find out how much they are worth now!

8. Blanche Baker

Estimated Net Worth: Unknown. This American actress isn’t well known within the industry. She’s been working since the early 80’s, but she hasn’t had many breakthrough career moments. She made her television debut in the miniseries Holocaust, a role that earned her a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding performance. She hasn’t had any other starring roles on television, but rather made one episode appearances on shows like Law & Order, Clarissa Explains it All, The Equalizer and Embassy. She’s starred in few films like Livin’ Large, Dead Funny, The Girl Next Door, Hypothermia, Shakedown and Sixteen Candles. Overall, Blanche’s resume is lacking which explains why her net worth is nowhere to be found. Due to her lack of involvement in any major projects she’s probably worth $150 thousand.

7. Joan Cusack

Estimated Net Worth: $6 million. Joan Cusack has done extremely well for herself since appearing in the ’80s flick Sixteen Candles. She received Academy nods for her performance in Working Girl and In & Out and quickly became a prominent figure in romantic comedies in the ’90s. Some of her biggest film appearances have been in: Nine Months, Runaway Bride, My Sister’s Keeper, Confessions of a Shopaholic, School of Rock, Ice Princess, Raising Helen, Where the Heart is and Say Anything. She has also dabbled in some voice acting lending her voice to feature films like the Toy Story franchise and Chicken Little. Cusack doesn’t grace our television screens as much as she does the big screen, but did receive praise for her role in Shameless as Shelia Jackson and has appeared on Law & Order: SVU and The Office. It’s surprising that she isn’t worth more as she’s been around and steadily working for quite some time now. She is probably worth more, but currently estimated at only being worth $6 million.

6. Haviland Morris

Estimated Net Worth: $1.5 million. This actress has an extensive acting resume and is most well recognized for her role as Caroline in Sixteen Candles, Who’s That Girl and Gremlins 2: The New Batch. She also starred in Cherry CrushHome Alone 3 and has appeared in films like Jack & Diane, Adam, Joshua, The Baxter and The Fifth Element. She’s been incredibly active on television with a big role on One Life To Live and appearances on Blue Bloods, The Good Wife, As the World Turns, Army Wives, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, One Tree Hill, and Sex and the City (just to name a few). Despite her lack of recent starring roles, she’s been actively working as a real estate agent, which helps bring in an additional income. Her estimated net worth is doing just fine at around $1.5 million!

5. Gedde Watanabe

Estimated Net Worth: Unknown. Gedde Watanabe was born Gary Watanabe — he’s an American actor of Japanese descent. He got his first role on the Broadway Pacific Overtures and has since appeared in many television series and films. His only big roles in films have been in Sixteen Candles, Perfect Alibi and Gung Ho and it’s television spinoff. However, he has made appearances in a long list of feature films like Slackers, Alfie, Two for the Money, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Not Forgotten, and Parental Guidance. He has also done voice acting for the film Mulan, Mulan II, The Simpsons, Kim Possible, Rugrats, Scooby-Doo and the Samurai Sword and Sesame Street. Similar to films, he hasn’t had any starring roles, but has made appearances in many series like Model Family, My Wife and Kids, Home Improvement, E.R. and Seinfeld. His estimated net worth is unknown, which isn’t surprising because he hasn’t had many leading roles, so there isn’t much known about him. He’s been steadily working so his net worth is probably somewhere around $500 to $600 thousand.

4. John Cusack

Estimated Net Worth: $40 million. John Cusack is easily one of the most successful actors to have sprung from Sixteen Candles. Not only did he carry on a career as an actor, he’s also recognized in Hollywood as a screenwriter and producer. Back in the ’80s he was well known for appearing in teen movies like Better Off Dead and Say Anything, but since then he’s starred in films like: Serendipity, Runaway Jury, Identity, Being John Malkovich, 2012, America’s Sweethearts, Reclaim, Cell, The Prince, Drive Hard, The Butler, Grand Piano and The Raven. Similar to his sister, John doesn’t really do television, but he was the executive producer for the television movie called The Jack Bull. When it comes to film, John has been involved in a whopping 72 projects! He starred in and was a co-writer and producer in High Fidelity, Grosse Point Blank and War, Inc. He also starred and co-produced Hot Tub Time Machine and Max. His long list of big credits and involvement in front and behind the camera have earned him a huge net worth of $40 million.

3. Anthony Michael Hall

Estimated Net Worth: $10 million. As the typecasted ‘geek’ back in the ’80s in films like Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Weird Science and National Lampoons Christmas, Anthony Michael Hall has been working hard to diversify his acting credits. He’s also taken on being a film producer and director! Soon after his string of teen movies, Hall joined the cast of Saturday Night Live and starred in films like Out of Bounds, Johnny Be Good, Edward Scissorhands, Six Degrees of Separation and Pirates of Silicon Valley. He also appeared in big films like Foxcatcher and The Dark Knight and he has had huge success producing and starring in the USA Network series The Dead Zone which was at one point the highest-rated cable series. He’s appeared in many series like Entourage; Awkward; CSI: Miami; NYPD Blue; Murder, She Wrote; and Community. Hall has come a long way in his career and seems as though he’s definitely earned that estimated $10 million net worth!

2. Michael Schoeffling

Estimated Net Worth: $500 thousand. Michael Schoeffling is still best recognized for his role as Jake Ryan in Sixteen Candles. The former actor and male model has retired from acting. He said he wasn’t getting enough job opportunities so he left the business to start a family and now works as a carpenter in Virginia. He does have a few acting credits in films like Mermaids, Let’s Get Harry, Sylvester, Vision Quest and, of course, Sixteen Candles. He also did one episode of the ’80s television series The Hitchhiker. For someone who’s been out of acting work for over 30 years he’s still got quite a fortune, most of which most likely comes from video sales of Sixteen Candles. He’s estimated at being worth approximately $500 thousand.

1. Molly Ringwald

Estimated Net Worth: $11 million. We all know and love Molly Ringwald for the roles she played in our favorite teen movies back in the ’80s like The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles and Pretty in Pink. She’s also had starring roles in a few small films like Bad Night, Jem, Cowboy Up, Cut, Teaching Mrs. Tingle, Office Killer, Malicious and For Keeps. When it comes to television, she landed two lead roles, first in the series The Stand, then Townies and more recently as Anne Juergens in The Secret Life of the American Teenager. Her biggest career breakthroughs have been starring in John Hughes films back in the ’80s, although she’s continued to work, she will always be most well recognized for her teen movies. She’s still managed to remain successful and has an estimated net worth of $11 million.
