8. How Gigi Thinks They Met

According to Gigi, she first met Zayn at a friend’s birthday a few years ago and then she thought she was going to meet him again at the Victoria’s Secret show in 2015, but he was a no-show. “I was like, ‘I’ll play it cool. I’ll go to the after party. He wasn’t there,” she told Elle Degeneres. Later that week, we ended up going on our first date,” she said. “We played it cool for, like, 10 minutes and then I was like, ‘You’re really cute.’ We connected, like, really quickly. We have kind of the same sense of humor and started sharing videos.”

7. Breakup

The couple has reportedly broken up and gotten back together a few times. One of their biggest breaks came in June 2016 when they had only been dating for seven months. The couple had been fighting on her birthday and decided to call it quits; however, a source insisted that the couple might reconcile in the future – and they did! They were back together a few days after news broke that they had broken up.

6. Date Nights

They are just like any other couple. When they have time off, they to stay in and spend time together. “When I’m in LA I mostly stay in because it’s my time off and I like being with my boyfriend and doing art and cooking. We like late-night movies and we order from this amazing place that does lattes and gingerbread cookies. I need coffee to stay up. I’m always like, ‘Babe, let’s go to a movie.’ Then I fall asleep halfway through and he’s like, ‘You’ve seen the first half of every movie out there and you have no idea how any of them end,’” she told British Vogue.

5. Sharing Clothes

Hadid and Malik like to borrow each other’s clothes. She’ll take clothes from his closet and he’ll borrow her T-shirts. The couple ended up causing some controversy when they discussed this with Vogue because they likened their clothes-sharing to gender fluidity. Although Hadid and Malik didn’t issue an apology, Vogue did. “The story was intended to highlight the impact the gender-fluid, non-binary communities have had on fashion and culture. We are very sorry the story did not correctly reflect that spirit – we missed the mark. We do look forward to continuing the conversation with greater sensitivity,” Vogue said in a statement.

4. Friends with Each Other’s Families

They are friends with each other’s families. Gigi spent her 21st birthday with Zayn and his family, as well as her family at the beach, which she and Zayn documented on Instagram. His family was reportedly quite close to his ex Perrie Edwards, but they seem to have welcomed Gigi in with open arms. Gigi has even gushed that Zayn’s mother’s house is her “favorite restaurant in the world.”

The former One Directioner revealed that he and his supermodel girlfriend have nicknames for each! “I call her Gee, she calls me Zee,” he told The Sunday Times Style. “There’s some other nicknames too, but I’ll keep those private.”

2. Unofficially Living Together

The couple unofficially lives together, either at his home in Los Angeles or her apartment in New York City. “We haven’t officially swapped keys or anything yet, we live together wherever we are,” he told ES Magazine. He also likes to stay home with Hadid and cook for her! “Steak and potato pie, Sunday roast dinner and Yorkshire pudding,” he said.

The first thing that attracted Gigi to Zayn wasn’t his pop star good looks – it was his brain. It also doesn’t hurt that they have a lot in common and are best friends. “I would say his brain.
