7 Victoria’s Secret Models Who Got Too Big For The Brand

Victoria’s Secret models are considered to be some of the hottest ladies on the face of the earth. Men love them and women envy them. Many of today’s most renowned models began their careers in the lingerie giant’s commercials, catalogues and walking their runway. We have been wondering about the company and the sorts of relationships it has with its models. It seems that many of the big models that have worked with the company became too successful for the brand and have chosen to leave to start their own mini empires. Here are 7 former Victoria’s Secret models who left the brand for bigger and better things!

7. Helena Christensen

Helena Christensen was one of Victoria’s Secret’s signature models. Back in the ‘90s, she appeared in their television commercials and catalogue. The Danish-born supermodel has continued to model over the years, is the creative director of Nylon magazine and also works as a photographer. “My work is 40 per cent modeling, 40 per cent photography and 20 per cent all kinds of strange, interesting, weird stuff,” Christensen said.

6. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley hasn’t hit the runway for Victoria’s Secret in a few years. Even though she was expected to be the next Kate Moss, this British-born model is leaning more towards acting these days. Huntington-Whiteley replaced Megan Fox in the third installment of the Transformers trilogy “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” and she has a role in the movie “Mad Max: Fury Road,” which is scheduled for release in 2015.

5. Izabel Goulart

Izabel Goulart is best known for her involvement with Victoria’s Secret. She worked with them from 2005 to 2008. Like many of the company’s Angels, she has gone on to have a long and lucrative modeling career after leaving the lingerie giant. The Brazilian supermodel is currently the face of MAC Cosmetics Tropical Taboo range and the Brazilian swimwear brand Agua De Coco. Although Goulart is no longer an Angel, she has continued to walk in Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows.

4. Heidi Klum

Heidi Klum is easily one of Victoria’s Secret’s most recognizable faces. She modeled for the lingerie company for 13 years and was considered “Head Angel.” In 2010, the German model retired her wings. “All good things have to come to an end. I will always love Victoria and never tell her secret. It’s been an absolute amazing time,” she said in an official statement. After leaving Victoria’s Secret, Klum has focused more on becoming a businesswoman as opposed to a model.

3. Miranda Kerr

Miranda Kerr is best known for her work with Victoria’s Secret; however, last year, after several successful years with the lingerie company, she turned in her wings. According to the Australian-born model, she didn’t have the time to commit to a full-time contract. “This is a natural evolution,” Kerr said. “The thing is, I’ve been modeling since I was 13. I’m now entering a new phase in my life. I have felt this coming since my son was born and, after I became a mother, I realized I needed to prioritize my time.”

2. Gisele Bundchen

Gisele Bundchen’s relationship with Victoria’s Secret is what established her as the world’s top model; however, in 2007, after seven successful years with the lingerie company, the Brazilian supermodel decided to move on. “I would like to have different chapters in my life. I mean let’s be honest – I do this because it’s my job,” Bundchen said. “I’m not this girl all the time. People have a perception of me because of Victoria’s Secret that I’m sexy, but I’m not a sexy girl. I’m very tomboyish.”

1. Tyra Banks

Tyra Banks was the first African American to ever grace the cover of a Victoria’s Secret catalogue. She modeled for the lingerie giant from 1997 to 2005 and quickly moved on to bigger and better things. Victoria’s Secret reportedly asked Banks to come back for a reunion, but she refused. “I said no, because I was trying to be taken seriously as a talk show host and an executive producer and a business woman,” the former supermodel said.
