After reports indicated on Monday, May 7 that Teen Mom OG star Amber Portwood had gone into early labor, she has now welcomed a baby boy!
As previously reported Portwood and her boyfriend, Andrew Glennon, have named their son James.
After reports stated in November 2017 that the reality star was pregnant with her second child, after previously welcomed daughter Leah with ex Gary Shirley, Portwood confirmed the pregnancy herself when she tweeted, “Thank you everyone for all the kind words. I’m very excited for my future with Andrew and our little family we are starting together! Love.”
In the previous season of Teen Mom OG when Portwood was asked about having children with her then-fiance Matt Baier, she explained that she was on medications for her depression and borderline personality disorder that she couldn’t take while pregnant. After her split from Baier and whirlwind romance and pregnancy with Glennon, Portwood said that she had gone off her medications because she felt better after not being with Baier anymore and became pregnant.
Midway through her pregnancy however she revealed she went back on antidepressants to take care of herself. “I kind of just want to nip it in the bud before anything gets too bad or you go into a really deep depression, which is not good for me right now, obviously. I’m 33 weeks pregnant,” she said. “It’s just something you have to do to make yourself feel better, and you have to make sure it’s safe for the baby and just move forward from that.”
She continued, “We were really against taking any medication during the pregnancy, but the doctor told me about one certain prescription that was okay for pregnancy and there were no effects on the baby or anything, so I ended up taking an antidepressant.”
