Markie Post, known for her roles in Night Court and The Fall Guy, has sadly passed at the age of 70.
According to Deadline, the actress passed on Saturday after battling cancer for nearly four years. Post’s family shared a statement and tribute to her spunky personality both on and off set. “With great sadness, the family of actress Markie Post tonight shares her passing after a three year, ten month battle with cancer,” the statement began.
The family continued to explain that Post chose to keep working despite battling cancer and going through chemo treatments and was “determined to make it her ‘side job.”
“But for us, our pride is in who she was in addition to acting; a person who made elaborate cakes for friends, sewed curtains for first apartments and showed us how to be kind, loving and forgiving in an often harsh world,” the statement continued.
Post’s former costars, such as Sophia Bush and Melissa Joan Hart, shared their thoughts to honor the late actress. “I’m heartbroken to lose an angel here on earth! My dear friend and TV mother #MarkiePost is finally at rest after a long hard battle with cancer,” Hart wrote in an emotional Instagram post.
Bush, who played Post’s daughter in ABC’s Chicago P.D., shared her own tribute. “I am just heartbroken to heart about the passing of my friend, scene partner (she was a phenom) and forever Bunny, #MarkiePost. Too soon,” the actress wrote. “Prayers to her family, who she always spoke of with a twinkle in her eye.”
