Leslie Jones finally got her dress, and it is gorgeous!
Last month, the 48-year-old Saturday Night Live comedian took to Twitter to express her disappointment that no designers were willing to work with her for the upcoming Ghostbusters premiere in Los Angeles. “It’s so funny how there are no designers wanting to help me with a premiere dress for movie,” Jones tweeted. “Hmmm that will change and I remember everything.”
Jones’ frustration caught the attention of several users, who pointed to the lack of diversity in the fashion industry, particularly when it comes to body shape.
Christian Siriano, 30-year-old Project Runway winner, was quick to respond to Jones’ plea, and enthusiastically offered his services. Jones accepted the offer, excitedly replying, ““YAAAAAASSSSSSS.”
The results couldn’t have been more perfect. The two of them worked collaboratively to create a red off-the-shoulder gown that didn’t shy away from showing off Jones’ curves and toned legs.
“I feel amazing,” the actress told Us Weekly. “Christian hooked me up! Christian Siriano hooked me up.”
It was clear that Jones was very pleased with the end result. “We just talked and he just knows a woman’s body!” she gushed. “He knew what to make for me and he did good! I love it.”
Siriano was also satisfied with the final outcome of the dress. “Now that’s how you do it! Simple, elegant and chic!!” he shared on Twitter, along with a collage of Jones wearing the dress.
Leslie Jones stars in the new women-led reboot of the 1980s hit film Ghostbusters that premiered on July 9. Her co-stars include Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, and Kate McKinnon.
