‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Cast Thanks Doctors For Their Work On National Doctor’s Day

The Grey’s Anatomy cast shared a message to doctors and nurses thanking them for their service amid the ongoing public health and safety situation.

On National Doctor’s Day, the official Shondaland Instagram account shared a video featuring a number of Grey’s Anatomy cast members – including James Pickens Jr., Chandra Wilson, Giacomo Gianniotti, and more – thanking members of the medical community for all that they’re doing on the frontlines.

“We wanted to say THANK YOU to every single healthcare worker battling on the frontlines …,” according to the post’s caption. In addition to the thank you message, the post revealed that Barco Uniforms, the company that makes the scrubs for the series, will be donating 10,000 scrubs per month to any healthcare workers who need them.

As Pickens describes it, doctors “are the true heroes.” Also, Grey’s Anatomy cast members – who have been at home ever since the show stopped production – encouraged everyone to follow suit and remain inside their homes. “Thank a doctor today by staying home if you can,” Wilson said.

On Monday, ABC announced that the long-running medical drama series will move its finale date – originally set to air on May 16 – to Thursday, April 9, with episode 21 of the season to serve as the season’s finale. In addition to it’s changed finale air time, the season 16 finale episode, which was the last one the production crew was able to complete before stopping due to ongoing public health and safety concerns, is titled “Put on a Happy Face.”

The Network also announced that they are not planning to resume production on the show’s 16th season once they’re cleared to go back to work, which means that the season will come to a true end on April 9th. Furthermore, despite season 16 coming to an early end, it has been announced that Grey’s Anatomy has been renewed for season 17.
