Ouch! 13 Worst Celebrity Injuries During Movie Filming!

It’s easy to assume that celebrities have perfect lives and, of course, ideal jobs! What many of us fail to take into account, however, is the level of danger that some roles require! Here’s a list of the 13 worst celebrity injuries during movie filming! From broken spines to dislocated shoulders, these actors and actors have experienced it all. 13. Sienna Miller

Sienna Miller sustained a couple of injuries on the set of “G.I. Joe.” The actress was treated for a swollen hand after she slipped on a rubber bullet and, during an explosion effects misfire, her cat suit caught on fire, igniting the area between her breasts!

12. Leonardo DiCaprio

In one of the most climactic scenes in “Django Unchained,” Leonardo DiCaprio slammed his hand on a table so hard that he broke a glass and cut his hand. Despite his injury, the actor kept moving through the scene, never breaking character. The bloodied hand scene made it into the final version of the film.

11. Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt sustained a few injuries during filming for a couple of different movies! During one scene in “Se7en,” the actor broke his arm, so the injury was written into the scrip and, while filming “Troy,” Pitt – who was playing Achilles – injured his left Achilles tendon while filming a fight scene with Eric Bana.

10. Robert Downey Jr.

Robert Downey Jr. injured his ankle while performing a stunt during filming for “Iron Man 3.” As a result of his injury, filming was delayed for a month and a half, giving the actor time to recuperate.

9. Halle Berry

During filming for “Gothika,” Robert Downey Jr. broke Halle Berry’s arm while filming a scene in a mental ward. In the scene, Downey twists Berry’s arm and forces her into a cot. He realized something was wrong when he heard a pop and Berry was rushed to the hospital. Filming was shut down until she was well enough to return.

8. Viggo Mortensen

During filming for “The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers,” Viggo Mortensen broke a couple of toes from kicking a helmet in the Orcs funeral pyre scene. The actor also came close to drowning in a current and broke a tooth in the Battle of Helm’s Deep! All of his injuries were incorporated into the film.

7. Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Joseph Gordon-Levitt was injured on the set of “Premium Rush.” During filming, he lost control of his bike and ended up going through the rear window of a taxi cab. The actor’s arm was slashed by the impact, requiring 13 stitches. Apparently, a diplomat had driven through the shooting location, which ended up causing the accident!

6. Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman injured herself while shooting “Moulin Rouge.” She fractured two ribs and hurt her right knee. Many of the remaining scenes had to be shot with Kidman sitting down to cover the cast on her leg. The actress claims that it took her two years to recover!

5. Jaimie Alexander

During filming for “Thor: The Dark World,” Jaimie Alexander suffered severe injuries when she slipped off a metal staircase, slipping a disc in her thoracic spine and chipping 11 of her vertebrae. The actress also knocked her left shoulder out of place and tore her rhomboid on her right side. The injuries took her out of filming for a month!

4. Russell Crowe

Before filming even began for “Cinderella Man,” Russell Crowe dislocated his shoulder while sparring aggressively. The shoulder injury required surgery, necessitating a seven-week delay in production! According to the director, the possibility of a re-injury brought a lot of tension to the set. “We were told that Russell could easily re-injure his shoulder, so we had to constantly find a balance between striving for the best possible take without increasing the chances that Russell could get hurt.”

3. George Clooney

George Clooney broke his spine during a stunt scene gone wrong while filming the hit film “Syriana.” The injury was so bad that Clooney was left him bedridden for a month with severe migraine and, during recovery, he was in so much pain that he actually considered committing suicide!

2. Jennifer Lawrence

While Jennifer Lawrence was filming “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1,” her character Katniss Everdeen leads a rebellion against the Capitol through a smoke-filled tunnel. Unfortunately, the fog machine malfunctioned and emitted too much smoke, causing Lawrence to nearly choke to death from the fumes!

1. Sylvester Stallone

While filming “Rocky IV,” Sylvester Stallone wanted the much-anticipated fight scene to seem 100 percent authentic. To achieve the this, Stallone and Dolph Lundgren (who played Rocky’s opponent Ivan Drago) agreed to legitimately fight each other. During the scene, Lundgren hit Stallone so hard he was seriously injured. The actor was airlifted from Canada to St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, California, and placed on intensive care for eight days after Lundgren delivered a hard punch to his chest, causing his heart to swell and his blood pressure to exceed 200.
