Fame10 Fashion Evolution: Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson has not only become one of the most talented actresses in Hollywood, but she has also become quite stylish along the way. On the red carpet, we have watched her try a number of different styles out, from demure to sultry to full-on glamazon showing that her evolving sense of style has come a long way. We definitely prefer her red carpet outfits as of late; they are edgy but feminine, which not everyone can pull off. Because she is such an in-demand actress with red carpet style to die for, let’s check out her fashion evolution!

Hollywood Awards – 2003

Scarlett Johansson did not look especially stylish at the Hollywood Awards in 2003. There are so many problems with the dress she decided to wear that we are not even sure where to begin. The color, the length and the general style are just a few of the things that made it a total disaster. Johannson has always been one of the more talented actresses of her generation, so we’re not sure what inspired her to dress like a tart. Thankfully she will learn from this!

8th Annual Hollywood Film Festival’s Hollywood Awards – 2004

The “Ghost World” star looked amazing at the 8th Annual Hollywood Film Festival’s Hollywood Awards. She wore this bronze, brown and beige knee-length dress with matching shoes and clutch. This is how we like to see Scarlett Johansson – looking sexy, but stylish. She was well on her way to becoming a well-respected actress in 2004. The year before, she had a role in Sofia Coppola’s Oscar-nominated movie, “Lost in Translation.”

Premiere of Match Point – 2005

Scarlett Johansson showed off her amazing curves at the premiere of “Match Point” in this low-cut, knee-length dress. We love how the dress shimmers and we think it matches the clutch really well. The only problem we have is with the shoes as they seem like they belong with a different outfit. On the plus side, we have no doubts about how good her performance in the movie was. It earned Johansson her fourth Golden Globe nomination.

Premiere of The Black Dahlia – 2006

The Golden Globe-nominated actress looked stunning at the premiere of “The Black Dahlia.” She wore this black Chanel Resort 2007 dress with silver details and designs and matching accessories. The film didn’t end up getting stellar reviews; however, one good thing to come out of film was Scarlett Johansson’s relationship with Josh Hartnett. These two dated for a year or two and were really low-key about their relationship. If Hartnett didn’t bring it up every so often, we would all forget that they ever even dated to begin with.

Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Annual Gala – 2007

Scarlett Johansson landed on every worst dressed list for the beige Stella McCartney dress that she wore to the Met Gala in 2007. We don’t know what she was thinking and judging by her fishnet stockings, we’re going to say that she probably wasn’t. Thankfully she has come a long way since then. We’d be hard pressed to find an event nowadays where she doesn’t look stunning and well put together. We’re just going to forget that this faux pas ever happened.

Teen Choice Awards – 2008

At this time, the soon-to-be Mrs. Reynolds went for a more demure look at the 2008 Teen Choice Awards. She donned this Matthew Williamson beaded chiffon dress with Jimmy Choo “Gloss” purple eel platforms and jewels by Sonia Boyajian. While we don’t see anything particularly offensive about this outfit, we do think it is a tad bit matronly for someone as sexy as Scarlett Johansson. Also, the necklace looks a bit out of place. We’d either go with a simple necklace that doesn’t call attention to itself or no necklace at all.

13th Annual Los Angeles Shorts Festival Opening Night – 2009

This Prada dress that Scarlett Johansson wore to the 13th Annual Los Angeles Shorts Festival Opening Night is dowdy. It looks so dull and uninspiring and it clearly belongs on some 50-year-old woman – not a young, hot actress. We’re wondering what possessed her to even wear this dress. We know that she was married to Ryan Reynolds at this point. Maybe he convinced her that she needed to tone down the sexy and start looking like a married woman. If that is indeed what happened, we think it was the worst advice she has ever been given.

American Theatre Wing’s 64th Annual Antoinette Perry Tony Awards – 2010

The “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” star looked absolutely gorgeous at the American Theatre Wing’s 64th Annual Antoinette Perry Tony Awards in this black and green sequined Elie Saab Fall 2010 gown with a plunging neckline and cut out detailing. We think this is her most mature look yet. Around this time, her marriage to Ryan Reynolds was ending and her sense of style seemed to be quickly evolving. Once these two were finally over, Scarlett Johansson became a full-blown fashion star.

Premiere of We Bought a Zoo – 2011

Scarlett Johansson looked all kinds of hot at the premiere of “We Bought a Zoo.” She wore this Dolce & Gabbana ensemble, which featured a cropped bustier top paired with a knee-length skirt, a black belt and black ankle-strap Jimmy Choo “Greta” sandals. While she has always tried to keep her private life private, when you’re as successful and stunning as Johansson, people will always be interested. Around this time, she was dating Sean Penn. To this day, we are still confused about her decision to date Penn, but not about her awesome fashion decisions.

Premiere of Avengers Assemble – 2012

“The Other Boleyn Girl” star outdid herself at the premiere of “The Avengers.” She looked exquisite in this strapless Prada dress, which featured a black bodice embroidered with red and blue floral details, as well as a black and blue lace pencil skirt. She accessorized with red Christian Louboutin ‘Pigalle’ pumps and Bulgari jewels. One of our favorite parts of Scarlett Johansson’s look is her crown-style braid. All in all, this is one of her more stunning looks.

Under the Skin Photocall – 2013

Scarlett Johansson looked stylish at the photocall for “Under the Skin” in high-waisted Roland Mouret pants, a striped Sonia Rykiel sweater and black satin Roger Vivier heels. We like that she can take a simple look and make it look uber sophisticated. Not only is she incredibly stylish, she was also being highly commended for her acting skills. Rolling Stone lauded her performance in “Under the Skin,” calling her “phenomenal in every sense of the word.” We expect this one to win an Oscar someday.

Premiere of Captain America: The Winter Soldier – 2014

The pregnant star opted for a sexy look at the premiere of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” She wore this Armani Prive Spring 2009 black and white ensemble featuring a white lace V-neck peplum top paired with a black high-waisted slim-fit lace skirt. Even while pregnant Scarlett Johansson still has an enviable figure. Now that baby Rose has been born, we’re really looking forward to seeing her on the red carpet again!
