The 9 Most Amazing Celebrity Ice Bucket Challenge Videos

Celebrities are all over the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, a month-long campaign to raise money and awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Those who are challenged have to donate $100 to the ALS Association or get showered with a bucket of ice and water and pass the challenge on to at least three other people. So far, the campaign has raised $10 million and celebrities might bear a lot of responsibility for that. We decided to take a look at some of the more famous celebrities who have taken the challenge, as well as some others who had a bit of fun with it.

9. Kerry Washington

Kerry Washington – who stars on the TV show “Scandal” – represented her cast when she took the Ice Bucket Challenge. She was showered with two ice buckets because her show received two challenges – one from Bob Iger, Disney’s CEO, and the other from “Grey’s Anatomy.” The new mother was really cute about the whole thing. Even though she bravely accepted the challenge, she couldn’t help but scream before they poured the two buckets over her head.

8. Oprah

Oprah also completed the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge after she was nominated by Jesse Ferguson, Tyler Perry and Nancy O’Dell. She had her best friend Gayle King do her the honors of dumping the bucket of cold water. The media mogul has, in turn, challenged Steven Spielberg, Dame Helen Mirren and Manish Dayal to either take the challenge or donate money to this good cause.

7. Emmy Rossum

Emmy Rossme took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in a bikini top and a pair of white cut offs. She was a good sport about it. She dumped a punch bowl full of cold water on herself and then nominated a few people. “Thanks to @doriegolkin for calling me out for the #IceBucketChallenge. I nominate my costars from @yournotyoumovie: @joshduhamel & @HilarySwank. You’ve got 24 hours! #ALSicebucketchallenge #StrikeOutALS #YoureNotYou @eonefilms,” the “Shameless” star said in her video on Instagram.

6. Elizabeth Banks

Elizabeth Banks – who plays Effie Trinket in “The Hunger Games” – completed the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge by dumping a bucket of ice and water on herself in one of her bathrooms. In turn, she has nominated Seth Rogen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Nathan Fillion to take the challenge or each donate $100.

5. Robert Downey Jr.

Robert Downey Jr. went shirtless in his pool for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. He had his pregnant wife douse him with a bucket of cold, icy water. Even though it looked uncomfortable, he barely flinched. The “Iron Man” star nominated Vincent D’Onofrio and his son, as well as Chris Hemsworth to take the challenge.

4. Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Along with a group of men and women, he dumped a big bucket of water and ice over his head. In the video and on his Facebook page, he nominated Jimmy Fallon, Steve Higgens and The Roots for the challenge. “You’ve got 24 hours to donate AT LEAST $100 or douse yourself with ice. (Or both. We did both…and then we donated a bunch more. It’s such a good cause.)” Timberlake wrote.

3. Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor

Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor completed the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge together as a couple. After they finished by nominating Judd Apatow, Ricky Gervais and tennis star Rafael Nadal for the challenge, their children helped them out by dumping the water and ice on them unexpectedly.

2. Carson Daly, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton

Carson Daly, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton all completed the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge together. Daly challenged Nick Lachey from 98 Degrees, Kevin Richardson from The Backstreet Boys and Joey Fatone from ‘N Sync; Shelton nominated Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams and Adam Levine; and Levine called out Jason Seagal, Mark Ruffalo and Robert Downey Jr.

1. Chris Pratt

The “Guardians of the Galaxy” star was nominated for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge by Disney CEO Bob Iger and actor Vincent D’Onofrio. While many other celebrities took the challenge without any argument, Chris Pratt produced a little bottle of Blue Ice Vodka and a bottle of Smirnoff Ice and said that he would drink them instead of pouring two buckets of icy cold water on his head. While drinking, however, his wife and her friend surprised him by dumping the water on his head for him.
