9 Celebrities Who Have Tried Online Dating

Finding love isn’t easy for everyone – including some celebrities. Instead of waiting for Mr. Right to come find them, some of these celebrities have decided to take matters into their hands, which means venturing into the unknown world of online dating. Being famous can’t possibly make this process any easier – everyone knows who they are! Some people might think it’s a joke while others might see it as an opportunity to take advantage. We decided to find out which celebrities were bold enough to try online dating and see who had any luck. Here are 9 celebrities who decided to find love online!

9. Ricki Lake

Ricki Lake tried to find love on a few different online dating sites. “I was on a few of them, J-Date, Match.com. I didn’t use my name,” she admitted to the Huffington Post in April 2012. “My friends all believed that everyone must have known it was me. I believed that they didn’t. It felt safe to correspond with people with some kind of anonymity and then to build some kind of friendship and take it from there.”

8. Carrie Ann Inaba

The Judge from “Dancing with the Stars” met her fiancé on eHarmony. “I was dating all these younger guys. I was like, ‘Maybe I need to change it up a little,’” she told “Access Hollywood.” Carrie Ann didn’t give potential suitors a lot to work with – she didn’t post a picture or offer any information about what she does for a living. “In his picture, I felt like I already knew him,” she said. “He took a risk because he didn’t know what I looked like or anything.”

7. Martha Stewart

Several months ago, Martha Stewart decided to create a profile on Match.com after an interview with Matt Lauer on “The Today Show.” It was definitely worth it for the media mogul – she got thousands of responses! “I think it was interesting to get to know what a dating service is like. In my company, the average age of the young women is around 30 and a lot of them have found dates on sites like Match.com,” Stewart said.

“The Millionaire Matchmaker” star had some difficulty finding love. However, after utilizing a few different online dating sites, she finally found Mr. Right! “I met [my boyfriend] online and he’s a keeper – I tried four sites, including my own site and Plenty of Fish, and Plenty of Fish won,” she told UsWeekly in June 2012. “And I did everything in my book. I did dating detox…I knew what I wanted, he knew what he wanted.”

5. Jenny McCarthy

Jenny McCarthy gave online dating a try a few years back. “I have checked the men I like between 35-48 [on Match.com] – I don’t care if they have a big nose. I don’t care if they’re bald,” she told Access Hollywood in November 2011. “Just really sweet and who’s a perfect reflection of who I am now. They have to have a job. I’d like them to at least be able to buy dinners and stuff like that. That is important.” You probably won’t find her on there these days – she is currently engaged to Donnie Wahlberg from New Kids on the Block.

4. Joan Rivers

Joan Rivers has said that she doesn’t find dating at her age to be all that easy. According to her, the only events she attends these days are funerals! In an effort to find love, the comedienne joined Match.com. “I was feeling really silly and really sad one day, so I said, ‘What the hell? Let’s go on [Match.com],’” Rivers told NBC News back in 2006. “It was very difficult to put myself out there. But I figured at this age I’ll forget.”

3. Deborah Ann Woll

When she was first starting out in Hollywood, Deborah Ann Woll had a hard time meeting men, so she went on Match.com. “I’m shy, and I’d always had a hard time meeting boys. I had a serious boyfriend in high school, but Hollywood, where it’s all about being ‘cool,’ terrifies me!” she said in Glamour’s June 2013 issue. “When I opened my Match account, I’d done a few guest spots but wasn’t on True Blood yet, and I wanted to find someone grounded.” Looks like she did – she met her current beau E.J. Scott on there!

2. Halle Berry

The Oscar-winning actress, who has had a lot of difficulty finding lasting love in the past, told Contact Music that she has dabbled in online dating, but she has never been forthright about who she is. “I am never who I am. I have been to a couple of dating ones just to see what everybody is talking about. I chime in and say a little fun stuff,” Berry said. Now she doesn’t have a need for online dating service – she is currently married to Olivier Martinez.

1. Adele

In her memoir, “Adele: The Biography,” the Grammy-winning singer admits that she wasn’t always the luckiest in love. After she split from the muse for her album 21, she was so heartbroken that she joined the world of online dating. “I signed up for eHarmony,” she said. “I can’t put a photo of myself, so I don’t get any e-mails!” Adele should be feeling pretty lucky these days – she is currently all loved up with her baby daddy, Simon Konecki.
