9 Celebrities Who Don’t Want Children!

When it comes to having a family, female celebrities are more or less expected to at least feign interest in being a mother. Celebrities like Jennifer Aniston constantly play into this. Even Jenn is in her mid 40s, whenever children come up in interviews, she always expresses a desire to have at least one. Some celebrities refuse to play this game though. Rather than pretend that they want children, they come right out and say they don’t. Here are 9 celebrities who simply do not want children!

9. Oprah

Oprah has proven that she has maternal instincts – have you seen her with Lindsay Lohan? – however, that doesn’t mean that she’s interested in being a mother. According to the media mogul, she never wanted to have children. “If I had kids, my kids would hate me,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “They would have ended up on the equivalent of the Oprah show talking about me; because something (in my life) would have had to suffer and it would’ve probably been them.”

8. Helen Mirren

Helen Mirren was only a young teenager when she decided that she didn’t want to have children. According to the Oscar-winning actress, her teacher showed her and her classmates a graphic film on childbirth, which scarred her for life. “I swear it traumatized me to this day. I haven’t had children and now I can’t look at anything to do with childbirth. It absolutely disgusts me,” Mirren told Australian television interviewer Andrew Denton.

7. Eva Mendes

Eva Mendes doesn’t feel the urge to settle down and start a family. “In a weird way I fluctuate between not giving it any thought and wanting to leave it up to whoever’s running the show, then giving it a lot of thought. I have to be honest, I don’t feel the urge yet. Maybe I’ll do it when I’m 41 or something, that’s happened to a lot of people I know who decided not to. I don’t feel the ticking clock,” she said. She turned 40 a couple of months ago and she still doesn’t have children – so who knows!

6. Kim Cattrall

Kim Cattrall wanted children; however, she was never in the right situation to start a family. “I’ve always wanted to have children. That never happened. And I thought, ‘Well, I’ll do it next year. I’ll do it after this film. And then there was, ‘Oh I’m single. There is a feeling you give up a lot on this job, but you have to get a lot back, too,” the “Sex and the City” star told The Independent newspaper. It sounds like her career took the place of having a family!

5. George Clooney

George Clooney has always been quite vocal about not wanting children. “I’ve always known fatherhood wasn’t for me. Raising kids is a huge commitment and has to be your top priority. For me, that priority is my work. That’s why I’ll never get married again,” he told Australia’s Daily Telegraph newspaper. The Oscar-winning actor seems to have changed his mind about marriage – he is currently engaged to Amal Alamuddin so, who knows, maybe children are in his future too!

4. Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi

According to Portia de Rossi, she and Ellen DeGeneres never really wanted children. “There comes some pressure in your mid-30s, and you think, ‘Am I going to have kids so I don’t miss out on something that other people really seem to love? Or is it that I really genuinely want to do this with my whole heart?’ I didn’t feel that my response was ‘yes’ to the latter. You have to really want to have kids, and neither of us did. So it’s just going to be me and Ellen and no babies – but we’re the best of friends and married life is blissful, it really is,” the “Arrested Development” star said.

3. Cameron Diaz

Cameron Diaz has never directly said that she doesn’t want children, but she hasn’t said that she wants them either. In 2009, she was quoted as saying, “I think women are afraid to say that they don’t want children because they’re going to get shunned. I have more girlfriends who don’t have kids than those that do. And honestly? We don’t need any more kids. We have plenty of people on this planet.”

According to the “Mad Men” star, children are not in the cards for this couple. “I don’t have a driving force to have a baby,” he told Playboy magazine. “That said, I’m in a committed relationship, and if it ever came up, I’m not ruling it out.”
