Viewers who miss Rey Rosales on The Young and the Restless (Y&R) have noticed that actor Jordi Vilasuso and his wife, Kaitlin, haven’t been as active on their podcast. The couple has now come forward to explain why they took a step away from the spotlight.
As it turns out, the married team behind the Making It Work podcast have been mourning the loss of their second baby.
“It’s been a while… it’s been too long,” Kaitlin said at the beginning of their Instagram video.
“We’re coming to you with some sad news,” the couple wrote in the caption. “We’ve, unfortunately, experienced another loss.”
In the heartbreaking video, the Vilasusos explain that they had hoped their 10th episode would coincide neatly with a celebration of their 10th wedding anniversary. “But life had a different plan,” Kaitlin added.

“We’ve struggled with whether or not to share because this is just hard, but we know that so many suffer in silence and we want so badly for that to change,” the statement continued.
In sharing their journey, the couple hopes that tackling this devastating subject will ensure that “the two little lives that didn’t come to be will be filled with purpose and will perhaps even bring some healing to someone else’s pain.”
The Daytime Emmy nominee, who was suddenly dismissed by Y&R in the spring, discusses this tragedy with his wife in greater detail on the 10th episode of their podcast, which drops today.
“We share our story today on Making It Work and hope you’ll join us as we try to shed a light on this really tough topic,” the couple signed off. “We love you all and thank you for being a constant source of love and encouragement to our family.”
Former co-star Melissa Claire Egan, who has suffered through similar losses, was among the first to comment. “Oh you guys. I’m so very sorry. Sending you so so so much love and so many huge hugs,” Egan wrote.
