Actor Will Smith burst into the Hollywood scene in his early twenties starring in the beloved series The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and has never really slowed down since, recently releasing his newest film Focus at over 20 years after making his acting debut.
Of course, along with big roles in Hollywood blockbusters like Independence Day, Bad Boys and Men In Black, Will Smith was not just an actor, he was a successful rapper, but as the years of gone on, his focus as solely been in acting.
Recently however, while making his rounds doing interview appearances to promote his film Focus, Smith has been doing a lot of rapping, exciting fans with perfect renditions of “Gettin Jiggy With It” and The Fresh Prince theme song causing many to wonder if Smith is thinking about getting back into rapping.
While he is very non committal about his answers, it turns out he has been working with one of this generation’s biggest rap stars Kanye West. “I spent a week or so with ‘Ye and we went into the studio a couple of times and he’s trying to get me gassed up,” he revealed on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show.
He later said more about the topic at the première of Focus stating, “I’ve recorded a lot. I don’t have anything I like yet, but I’ve probably recorded around seven or eight [songs]. It’s not for certain, it’s just explorative.”
While he is seriously exploring the idea of entering the music world once again, it seems for right now he just isn’t ready, “[Kanye’s] pushing me a little bit. I’m trying to find my voice because… I got things I want to say I just can’t find them. I can’t get them out poetically the way that I want just yet but you never know.”
