Season 19 of Dancing With the Stars has come to an end and after several weeks of gruelling competition only one star could take home the Mirrorball Trophy.
After Monday night’s elimination, the competition came down to the three finalists including Fresh Prince’s Alfonso Ribeiro and Whitney Carson, Duck Dynasty’s Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas, and Pretty Little Liars’ Janel Parrish with Val Chmerkoskiy.
Finale night kicked off with a special behind-the-scenes segment called “Road to the Finals” which recapped some of the best performances from previously eliminated contestants.
The final three then had one more attempt at impressing the judges as they were tasked with putting together a routine in less then 24 hours after finding out who had made the top three.
All three stars performed flawlessly, all getting rave reviews from the four judges.
For his last dance Alfonso pulled off an impressive cha cha/Argentine tango which to no surprise earned him a perfect 40 which when combined with his perfect score from Monday night gave him a total score of 120 out of 120.
Sadie Robertson and partner Mark danced a quickstep/samba which also earned a perfect score of 40, leaving her trailing Alfonso by only two points with 118.
Of course the judges couldn’t give out two perfect scores without giving a third. Janel and Val danced a foxtrot/paso doble giving them a total score of 117 with the two nights combined.
To absolutely no one’s surprise the actor once known for the famously ridiculous “Carlton” dance, Alfonso Ribeiro, took home the top honors of Season 19 champion and the Mirrorball Trophy.
Alfonso couldn’t help but cry with joy upon being announced the winner and stated, “I’ve wanted it forever! My god, I don’t know what to say.”
After blowing away the judges week after week, next season’s contestants are going to be hard pressed to match the standard now set by the dancing dynamo.
