Who Was The Highest Paid Musician of 2014?

Care to venture a guess? It may, or may not be who you’d think.

Is Beyonce on top? Nope. She was close in rank, but in terms of assets, she really wasn’t close to standing on top of the mountain. What about Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus and Kanye West? Oh yeah. They’re in the mix, but they didn’t crack the Top 5. So, who would that leave?

A quick breakdown.

How do these musicians make all their money? Here’s a hint: Residual income, endorsements, touring and business ventures. Which musicians have their hands in other endeavors, and have been around so long that their “classics” are still making as much money in sales as contemporary, #1 singles. You’re digging deeper now, aren’t you?

Let’s consider a few on the list.

Coming in at number five: The Boss. Bruce Springsteen. With his tough exterior, soft center and the greatest under bite in all of rock ‘n’ roll, it’s not a surprise that he pulled in a cool $81 million in 2014. Yes, he toured. Yes, he sold albums. Yes, he probably made more than that based on figures that haven’t yet been tabulated due to the use of his music in movies and TV shows. But… we’ll go with the 81 mil.

Behind The Boss… another New Jersey native, Bon Jovi, coming in at a cool $82 million. And pushing toward el numero uno: The Eagles with $100, Beyonce with $115 and…

…as the King of the industry in 2014? Yes, it’s a man who’s been doing it for years now, and he pulled in some $620 million during the 2014 calendar year…
