Heavy metal icon Wayne Wells, also known as Wayne Static passed away on Saturday November,1 at the age of 48 only days before his 49th birthday.
The frontman has been performing music since he began his first band, Deep Blue Dream and then formed his hit band, Static X in 1994.
Their biggest album was their debut album in 1998, Wisconsin Death Trip, which went platinum with their hit,”Push It.”
The band went on to make 5 more albums before disbanding in 2010.
Wayne Static attempted to reform the group but officially called in quits last year in 2013 and decided to embark on a solo project and was getting set to tour this winter with the likes of Powerman 5000 and Drowning Pool before his tragic death.
Since his death, rockers have been flooding Twitter with their remorse for the loss, including Dave Navarro who wrote, “RIP Wayne Static.”
As well, Disturbed’s David Draiman wrote, “Goodbye Old Friend.”
Legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne remembered Static by sharing a picture of himself with Static on the cover of Metal Edge magazine and wrote, “Very sad to hear of @IAmWayneStatic’s passing. Spent a lot of time together on @TheOzzfest tours. A tragic loss. Love to his family friends.”
Rocker Jacoby Shaddix from the band Papa Roach suggested Static’s untimely death was drug related when he wrote, “RIP Wayne. This is so sad. Too many musicians are drying from overdoses. I’m serious, addiction is real and takes fools out. No one is invincible. So glad I live a sober life today. The number of friends I have lost to addiction is crazy…I know drugs and partying are part of the ‘rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle’. but damn, how many more gotta die????”
However, Wayne Static’s publicist has made a statement assuring Static was sober and has been for five years, “More official information about his passing will be released in the following days. This is not a drug related incident or an O.D. Please be courteous to his family and wife and leave positive messages.”
Static who was married to adult actress Tera Wray and would have turned 49 on Tuesday November 4.
