On Wednesday, May 18 The Young and the Restless star Jensen Buchanan was arrested in Buelton, California by the California Highway Patrol for driving under the influence. The 53-year-old was behind the wheel of her 2016 black Mercedes on State Route 154 when she crossed the center double yellow line and hit a white 2014 Ford C-Max headed in the other direction around the time of 6:19 a.m.
“The immediate cause is under investigation — our understanding is she allowed [her] vehicle to cross the double yellow lines,” John Ortega, public information officer for the Buellton office of the CHP told ET.
Both of the drivers were taken to the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and the actress is reported to have minor injuries. The driver of the other car did not fare so well, and was taken to the hospital for more serious, or what is being described as “major injuries,” in a report by the Los Angeles Times.
Buchanan is best known for playing Sarah Gordon on One Life to Live from 1987-1990 and then twins Vicky Hudson and Marley Love on Another World from 1991-1999. Along with brief appearances on different soap series, she now stars on The Young and the Restless as Elise Moxley which she began in 2015 after a 13-year hiatus from daytime television acting.
Buchanan was booked for a DUI and driving under the influence of .08 alcohol causing bodily injury and was held on a $100,000 bail. There has been no comment from Buchanan or her rep on the accident.
