Riverdale’s KJ Apa, Camila Mendes And Cole Sprouse Speak Out After Luke Perry’s Passing

Following the passing of beloved actor Luke Perry on Monday, March 4, many have taken to social media to share their memories and tributes. For some, it has been harder to find the words, especially for the cast and crew of Riverdale who were most recently working with Perry on the show in which he played Archie’s dad, Fred Andrews.

While many of the cast and crew have already spoken out, three of the stars KJ Apa, Camila Mendes, and Cole Sprouse all spoke out in their own way on Thursday, March 7.

Cole Sprouse, who plays Jughead Jones on the series, made a brief statement about the loss while promoting his newest film Five Feet Part. “We’re recovering, yeah. It’s obviously not the easiest thing to talk about, but he was well-loved and there’s been an outpouring of emotional support from people around the world, which just goes to show what a wonderful person he was and how much he impacted people’s lives and impacted our lives,” he shared during an interview. “But I know that his family has requested privacy during this period and I respect that quite a bit.”

Meanwhile, Mendes who plays Veronica Lodge, took to her Instagram to share a photo of herself and Perry talking at what appears to be a cast party. “he took care of us all. an authentic man who took pleasure in offering us his guidance and wisdom. his presence was healing; he had the ability to make you feel comfortable and at ease within seconds of seeing him,” she began.

” i will never forget the collective shock and distress we experienced when the news broke on set. we lost a dear friend. my heart hurts for his family and anybody who had the pleasure of knowing him. rest in peace, luke. although you’re no longer around to wrap me in the warmth of your hug, i can still remember what it felt like. whenever i think of you, i will remember that feeling,” she concluded the heartbreaking post.

KJ Apa, who played Perry’s on-screen son Archie Andrews, posted a smiling photo of Perry on a boat and simply wrote, “Rest in Love bro.”

Many other Rivedale stars including Robin Givens, Madchen Amick, Lili Reinhart and Molly Ringwald all posted their own tributes earlier in the week amid countless other posts pouring in from around Hollywood and from Perry’s former Beverly Hills, 90210 costars.

Perry passed away at the age of 52 after suffering from a “massive stroke” on February 27, 2019.
