New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Teaser Trailer Released

Now this is a real teaser trailer!

Not long after Zack Snyder released a “teaser trailer” for the highly anticipated Batman v Superman: The Dawn of Justice, J.J. Abrams one-upped him with a new teaser trailer for Star Wars Episode VII-The Force Awakens.

The exclusive reveal gave a one minute and forty second glimpse of a war-torn galaxy.

The clip begins with a speeder racing across the desert as the mountains give way to a crashlanded Star Destroyer while wreckage of smaller ships are also strewn about.

The scene gives way to a voice presumably Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker from thirty years previous, stating, “The force is strong in my family. My father has it. I have it. My sister has it,” before adding, “you have that power too,” all while glimpses of Darth Vader’s ravaged helmet and a robotic arm reaching out to R2D2 flash by.

More images of battle scenes and war-ready stormtroopers are seen, giving way to the final and best seconds of the trailer are shown.

Harrison Ford as Han Solo appears beside Chewie and says, “Chewie…we’re home,” and Chewie lets out his iconic Wookie cry. There are no shots of Luke or Leia in the footage but newcomers John Boyega as Finn and Daisy Ridley as Rey are heavily featured.

The film is set to hit theatres December 18, 2015.
