Lily Allen To “Give Up Social Media” Over Reports About Her Sobriety

Like many stars, singer Lily Allen, 29, has opened up about her past, including partying and drinking, and recently she commented about efforts to be sober but after those comments got taken out of context and seemingly mocked, the singer has gotten quite angry.

In an interview with Grazia Allen is quoted as saying, “It’s been hard not drinking, but I’m trying to grow up. Finally.”

After the interview the Daily Mail’s, Mail Online posted about the statement writing, “she still has a long way to go in the bid to become more responsible, Allen has gone teetotal.”

The article enraged Allen so much that she took to her own Twitter account to slam the Mail Online on December 9 writing, “Let’s give up on social media and the Mail Online. It’s killing me. That is all.”

That was not all however, as she continued on by writing, “I feel like we’re not evolved enough to handle the Internet, psychologically. I preferred real records and newspapers with news in them…And everything was just better and nicer. We were nicer. And I wouldn’t be here.”

Allen finished her rant with a suggestion of just giving up on social media all together, “Might sell my twitter now.”

Allen takes her issues with drinking very seriously and as a mother of two young children does make sure to watch out for how these things affect her life.

While her Twitter account is still active, she has not used it since the last tweet, so maybe she just needed to blow off some steam before deciding to abandon her social media outright.
