Kit Harington Talks “The Curse” Of Game Of Thrones

The young stars of HBO’s massive hit series, Game of Thrones, probably didn’t realize exactly what they were getting into when stepping into the roles that would bring George R. R. Martin’s fantasy novel series, “A Song of Fire and Ice” to life on the small screen.

For Kit Harington, 27, playing Ned Stark’s bastard son, Jon Snow, was his first major role and won him the Actor of the Year Award at the Young Hollywood Awards in 2007.

Aside from the enjoying the unending success of the show, the actor is also on the cover for the January issue of British GQ and discussed his fairly unremarkable acting career outside of G.O.T.

“I won’t name names and I won’t name films but I’ve sat through private screenings, nearly in tears. Hating it. Thinking this is the end, everything’s over,” he said in his interview.

It is not the end however as Game of Thrones gears up for its fifth season and reports that Harington, as well as a few more of the lead actors, have been signed on for the seventh (and possibly final) season of the show with huge pay raises.

While signing his contract meant more money for his amazing portrayal of Jon Snow, it also meant one more thing, the actor, by contract, is not allowed to cut his hair which has become a trademark for the on-screen Snow.

“I’m more recognisable in public than much better-known actors. So many people watch, and I go around looking like my character,” he stated about how his must-have hair gives him away.

He also mentioned a curse that comes along with Game of Thrones and he doesn’t seem too bothered by the hair clause, so what is it?

“Game of Thrones is my life, it’s my day job, I love it. But honestly, if there is a curse of Thrones, it’s a lifetime of having to talk about it,” Harington said about starring in one of the most popular shows ever, but if there is ever a good curse, this is probably it.
