Singer Kesha is known for her party-girl antics and lyrics, wild costumes and makeup, and carefree take to pretty much everything.
However she has struggled with serious demons, including a severe eating disorder that she went to rehab for at the beginning of the year.
Kesha, now 27, has filed a lawsuit against her producer Dr.Luke who she signed with when she was only 18 years old.
According to the lawsuit, Dr. Luke was sexually, physically, verbally and emotionally abusive towards her for a very long time, which she names as the cause for her extreme eating disorder.
In the lawsuit, the singer states the abuse started almost immediately and Dr. Luke would make her take drugs and alcohol to inhibit her defenses against his sexual advances.
The lawsuit also names and details several disturbing instances that have occurred over the years, ranging from sexual abuse mostly when she was drugged or intoxicated by Dr. Luke, to physical, when he attacked her in his Malibu home causing her to flee and hide from him.
The abuse as well as his verbal treatment destroyed her confidence, resulting in a disorder that almost killed her, when he stated things such as, “You are not that pretty you are not that talented, you are just lucky to have me.”
A statement from Kesha’s lawyer states, “This lawsuit is a wholehearted effort by Kesha to regain control of her music career and her personal freedom after suffering for ten years as a victim…at the hands of Dr. Luke.”
