Katy Perry and John Mayer have called it quits.
Despite engagement rumors that swirled after Katy was seen wearing a fancy ring on her left hand, E! News reports that the musical pair has broken up.
According to an unnamed source, Katy, 29, is the one who broke things off with John, 36.
It’s not exactly a shock, given how many women John has dated (everyone from Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston to Taylor Swift and Minka Kelly) and given that Katy and John are known for being an on-again, off-again couple.
Katy and John first got together in the summer of 2012, then reportedly split up, got back together, split again and got back together again over 2012 and 2013.
But in an interview in late 2013, Katy said that their last break was good for them, and sang John’s praises. Check out the video to see what she said!
The couple also appeared together on TV shows such as Good Morning America, and even recorded a song together — so it does seem a bit strange that the relationship would end at this point in their apparent coupled bliss. Maybe something specific happened?
