A snapshot of Justin Bieber and his friend and mentor Will Smith garnered 1.5 million likes in 2013, making it the year’s most popular photo. It’s a simple picture – just Justin and Will hanging out, dressed casually, with their arms around each other. Watch the video to see what got so many fans to click the heart!
Bieber was the one who posted the pic to Instagram back in August, with the simple caption “Me and Uncle Will.” It’s not a particularly artsy or filtered image, especially for Instagram. Maybe its simplicity is actually why it became so popular.
Fans also probably responded to the cool relationship portrayed in the image. Last month, it was revealed that Justin actually talks on the phone with Will once a week to go over Justin’s career, emotional issues, etc. Since Will began rapping as a teen and starred in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air at age 22, he understands first-hand what it’s like to be a successful young star and to come of age in the spotlight.
Justin Bieber is the most-followed Instagram user (besides the company Instagram itself), followed by Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift.
