Jennifer Lawrence is the darling of awards season — but even she has insecurities about her body.
Speaking to E!’s Giuliana Rancic on the red carpet of the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the 23 year-old American Hustle star talked about actors who inspired her, letting out the “crazy lady” for her most recent role, and of course, her dress.
But before discussing the designer of her slinky, sparkling gown (Dior), Jennifer said, “I know, I have armpit fat. It’s okay though.”
“You do not have armpit fat,” insisted Giuliana.
But then Jennifer came up with an even more bizarre and gross way to discuss her self-diagnosed body deficiency. Watch the video to see what she said!
Jennifer has long been outspoken about her body and the media’s perception of it. “In Hollywood, I’m obese,” she said in an Elle interview in 2012. “I’m considered a fat actress.”
More recently, when she appeared in ABC News special, Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2013, Jennifer said, “I just think it should be illegal to call somebody fat on TV. Because why is humiliating people funny.”
While some have praised Jennifer for being frank about Hollywood’s impossible standards, others have criticized her for reinforcing these messages. After all, if J-Law has “armpit fat,” the rest of us are pretty hopeless.
