Iggy Azalea has had a dramatic fall from grace in the entertainment industry in the past year and many think she has finally hit rock bottom after her longtime mentor and defender T.I. publicly announced he was cutting ties with her.
While doing a radio interview with HOT 97, the rapper told host Ebro Darden that he has taken “a bit of a rest stop” in his business relationship with Iggy Azalea after having to smooth over many social media feuds between the Australian rapper and other artists.
The breaking point for him seemed to be after her intense feud with Azealia Banks and then her fall-out with Q-Tip in which he called Azalea out on issues about cultural appropriation and the history of hip-hop. “After I kind of smoothed it over, like okay, ‘What is really meant to be said here is…’ Then, after it was cool, you know what I mean, everything was cool. And then [Team Iggy] kind of came back and undid what I had just [orchestrated].”
T.I. admitted he hadn’t talked to Azalea personally about the situation and sure enough his words came as a surprise to Iggy who took to social media to have her say. “Here’s the deal, I am still signed to @tip and do business with him. The first ive heard of us having an ‘issue’ is via a radio interview,” she began. “Personally, i dont think the radio is the place to talk about your personal issues with someone thats part of your team….He seems to think theres nothing wrong with what he said, everybody else seems to disagree.”
She then added a pseudo challenge for T.I. to clear up his comments: “Im sure tip will publicly clarify what he meant when he feels he has the right platform to do so and other than that, im chillin.”
