Former Disney Channel star Michael Galeota has passed away at the young age of 31 multiple sources have confirmed. In records obtained by the media from the Los Angeles Medical Examiner, Galeota’s body was discovered in his home on Sunday, Jan. 10 and the coroner has cited his death was of natural causes but an autopsy has been scheduled.
Meanwhile TMZ has reported that Galeota was suffering from abdominal pain last week and went to the hospital but ended up leaving on Wednesday against the doctor’s advice. After a friend had not heard from Galeota in awhile he became worried and when he went to his Glendale home, he discovered the actor’s body.
Galeota is best known for his role as Nick Lighter in the Disney show The Jersey from 1999-2004 about four teenagers who find a magical jersey that transports them into the bodies of pro athletes. Over the years he had small roles on shows such as ER and Ally McBeal and starred in the ill-fated CBS series Bailey Kipper’s P.O.V. He also appeared on the big screen in Daniel Stern’s Bushwhacked in 1995, but his last known role was in 2004 in The Jersey.
