While everyone dreams of meeting their favorite celebrity at some point, sometimes it happens in the most unlikely of places at the most unlikely of times, which is exactly what happened to 13-year-old Sydney Bourbeau.
Bourbeau was recently on staged in an Edmonton, Alberta mall where she was performing songs for a fundraiser for the Edmonton Humane Society when she started a rendition of Sheeran’s hit “Thinking Out Loud.”
To her shock and surprise at that moment Sheeran himself walked out of a nearby HMV store and joined her up on stage to finish the song and while Bourbeau was starstruck she was able to compose herself and sang with him. “I was like, should I stop? I didn’t want to stop, but I wanted to talk to him. This is, like, the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” she said of the experience and although Sheeran casually walked away again after the song, it wasn’t the last she heard from him.
Sheeran’s manager ended up getting a hold of the young fan and gave her two tickets to his Sunday (June 14) night concert at Rexall Place.
While that was great enough, apparently Sheeran’s team also tweeted out to her during the concert asking if she would like to come backstage after the show to meet him properly however, Bourbeau did not have data on her phone and didn’t get the tweet until she was home.
Regardless, it was probably the greatest experience of her life and goes to show Sheeran really is as nice a guy as he appears.
