Australian actor Chris Hemsworth, 31, rose to the top of Hollywood after taking on a pivotal role for Marvel as demi-God Thor.
With striking blue eyes, a 6’2 frame of pure muscle and luscious blonde locks, he truly looks like a perfect fit to portray the superhero, but the newest Sexiest Man Alive changed up his look and lost his Thor locks ahead of the promotion of his new film, Blackhat.
While men don’t often worry about their hair quite as much, Hemsworth admitted to being “nervous” about the drastic change in hair styles in an interview on Live With Kelly & Michael on Tuesday January 13.
“I’m a Leo so it was a little bit like losing my mane. I felt like I was losing my powers,” Hemsworth stated.
However even after the haircut he most definitely still has the powers of sexiest man alive and as he explained also has the benefit of easier hair maintenance while he is busy promoting the film.
“It got long and messy and time consuming. It’s like photo shoot hair – if you have someone following you around doing it for you, it’s cool, but it’s not practical.”
As well as stepping away from his signature Thor hair-do, his role in Blackhat poses Hemsworth as a character respected for his technological capabilities, not just his physical ones.
Although the film promises action out of the star, he plays a furloughed convict who is one of the best hackers in the world and is needed by the government to fight terror attacks happening through cyber terrorists.
In order to prepare for the role, the film’s director had the cast visit prisons, leading to quite the interesting experience for the actor. Check out his new hair cut and his prison experience in the clip below!
Blackhat opens in theatres January 16, 2015.
