The condition of 21-year old Bobby Brown has remained largely unchanged in the almost four weeks since she was found unresponsive and facedown in a filled bathtub.

With little concrete information about her health status, her family has had to fend off several rumors that they are planning to take her off life support while she remains in a medically induced coma.

Recent reports now indicate however that doctors are making an attempt to learn more about her injuries by deciding to slowly take her off the medication that keeps her in a comatose state. “We’re all hoping and praying that this will give us some answers,” a source told People magazine while adding that her condition is still considered “severe.”

A professor at the NeuroCritical Care at Georgia Regents University, who is not treating Bobbi explained why doctors would make this decision, “They take them off a medically induced coma for two reasons – because the underlying problem has improved, or to simply get a sense of what the patient is able to do for themselves.”

He also commented the significance of the tracheostomy she underwent recently saying it means “she did not meet the criteria for brain death [but] she still could have a devastating injury.”

Amidst Bobbi Kristina’s uncertain future, her father Bobby Brown has been feuding with her longtime boyfriend Nick Gordon who has been banned from seeing Bobbi after a criminal investigation was launched surrounding the incident as police look at Gordon’s involvement.
