Kathryn Hays, who became a soap opera icon as Kim Hughes on As The World Turns (ATWT), has passed away at the age of 87.

According to Tribute Archive, the actress, who also played Leslie Jackson on Guiding Light prior to landing her most famous role, succumbed to unknown causes on March 25, 2022, in Fairfield, CT.

“Our relationship as Bob and Kim was as close as Kathryn and my relationship, except we were not married,” co-star Don Hastings shared in a statement (as per Soap Opera Digest). “We were more like brothers and sisters and we were great friends.”

“Our biggest squabble was that she always wanted to rehearse and I wanted to take a nap,” Hastings said of his Oakdale wife.

Beyond the soap opera domain, Hays had an impressive career on Broadway and television, starring in The Road West, Hawaiian Eye, Route 66 and Dr. Kildare. She also made guest appearances on TV series such as Star Trek, Bonanza and Law & Order: SVU, among many others.

The Princeton, Illinois native is mourned by her daughter Sherri, son-in-law Bob, her grandchildren Cameron, Kate and Garrett, plus her great-grandson Jack. Hays is no doubt being celebrated by countless ATWT fans, as well.

“This is a huge loss to all who knew her,” Hastings added.

Fame10 sends condolences to all family, friends and fans of this talented actress.
