There are a lot of big pop stars out there who have hooked up with their backup dancers. Some have gone so far as to marry these guys (and girls) while others have been content to date them a bit more casually. When it comes to pop stars having relationships with backup dancers, doing it casually might be a good thing. From what we’ve seen, none of these marriages or relationships last. Dating a backup dancer is kind of like dating the help – it might be fun for a while, but chances of it lasting are pretty slim. Here are 8 pop stars who hooked up with their backup dancers!

8. Britney Spears

Britney Spears ended up marrying one of her backup dancers, Kevin Federline. He had worked with a couple of big pop stars like Pink and Justin Timberlake before he danced backup for the pop princess. When he got involved with Spears, he was rumored to have been engaged Shar Jackson, who was pregnant at the time with their second child. Federline dumped her pretty quickly and spent the next two and a half years shacked up with Spears. These two have two children together and divorced back in 2006.

Madonna appears to have been on the prowl since she divorced Guy Ritchie. She has been spotted out and about with a number of younger men and most of them have been backup dancers. For a few years, the queen of pop was hooking up with Brahim Zaibat and now she’s rumored to be dating Timor Steffens. Both of these men are currently in their 20s and are easily closer in age to her daughter Lourdes.

Two years later, they separated and in 2000 they finally divorced.

Things became so serious between her and Ivan ‘Flipz’ Velez that they were rumored to be talking about marriage and children. Sources say that Velez was devastated by the news, but Haliwell felt that the spark just wasn’t there anymore.

These two quickly married; however, after several years of marriage, the country singer cheated on him and then left him for her co-star from “Northern Lights,” Eddie Cibrian.

When she was on the Spiceworld Tour, Melanie B. began dating one of the Spice Girls’ backup dancers, Jimmy Gulzar. Scary Spice ended up becoming pregnant and the two married in 1998. She went so far as to change her stage name to Melanie G. Sadly, the marriage didn’t last. In 2000, Mel B. filed for divorce and the two began fighting for custody of their daughter. According to Jimmy Gulzar, the Spice Girl’s breast implants and adultery were the reason for the split.
