We mentioned it yesterday. Trevor Noah is one of those guys.

Is Trevor Noah anti-Semitic? Does he regularly degrade women? Well, if you judge the man based on his tweets from a few years back, then he could be. Likely not. After all, he is a comedian who will use anyone as the butt of a joke. At that, it’s destined to be offensive to a host of people. It is 2015.

What has Trevor said in the past? Well… how about this gem from 2009:

“Almost bumped a Jewish kid crossing the road. He didn’t look b4 crossing but I still would hav felt so bad in my german car!”

That one? Well, it lands flat in 2015 to the politically correct police, but it received 70 favorites and 150 retweets back in the day. Obviously, it was seen as a joke. And sure, there are certain cultures you just can’t make fun of, but Trevor still does it. He even tossed out a comedic jab after leaving UAE recently, calling Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi the “Disneyworld for men.” You’d have to have been there, or have a true understanding of the culture to know everything that simple statement suggests.

Here’s the deal, people. You can’t have it both ways. Choose one or the other. You can’t have the Roast of Justin Bieber, then cry racism and sexism if someone makes a derogatory comment about a race or men/women. We’ve got to learn that one can be both, but doesn’t necessarily make it the other. A square can be a rectangle, a rectangle cannot be a square. Racism can be derogatory, but unless someone suggests that someone is better than another based on race/sex, then a derogatory comment is neither racism or sexism. To that end, I would suggest these comments are satirical stereotypes. We can call it racial/sexual stereotyping… but beyond that, these are still comedians making jokes. It’s what they do.

But who really cares? Let’s just all be offended.

With that, Comedy Central is standing by their choice to hire Trevor Noah as the host of The Daily Show. Here comes the politically correct wailing and gnashing of teeth.
