9 Super Famous Celebrities Who Are Adopted

Many people with adoptive origins have made extraordinary contributions to our culture. The character of adoption may or may not have provided the ability to give so much. What is common to all famous people who were adopted was that some adult or many adults cared for them, inspired them and helped them to become the historical figures that they are today.

1. John Lennon

John was born October 9, 1940 in Liverpool, England to Alfred Lennon, a merchant seaman who was not present at his birth, and Julia Stanley, his mother. John’s father returned to Liverpool to care for John and his mother when John was 4 years of age, but John’s mother Julia was involved with another man and pregnant with John’s younger sister. At that time, John was living with his aunt Mimi who eventually adopted him. John maintained regular contact with his birth mother but did not see his father again until he was 24 years old. According to John, his birth mother, adoptive mother and his aunts were “intelligent beautiful women.”

This is a ridiculous article…..check your facts. John Lennon’s mother gave him to her sister to live with down the road when he was 3 to get him away from his abusive drunken father. John’s mother Julia was hit by a drunk driver and killed when John was 12, so I guess Aunt Mimi adopted him around that time.

I appreciate this twist on the usual crap you see about adopted kids. As an adult adoptee it has always ticked me off that media & much of the public always point out when adopted people do bad things; for example: if a bad guy is a molester, murderer or any kind of criminal & is adopted, it is ALWAYS mentioned. But they never say “He was the biological son of …..” And if an adopted person does something great, it’s NEVER pointed out that he is adopted. Numerous studies conducted over many years have all shown that adopted kids do as well and in many cases even better than bio kids. Sadly, because of the negative press, many people believe the myth & don’t adopt. That’s sad, bc at any given time in the U.S. There are more than 600,000 foster children immediately available for permanent placement. I was adopted at 3 to great parents & had a wonderful family life. Some food for thought…..
