Four was the magic number for hit pop band One Direction as they premiered their fourth studio album, aptly titled, Four, on Today at Universal Orlando Resort on Monday November 17.
While the debut was for Four, there was also conspicuously only four members of the five member band present at the event, with Zayn Malik absent.
While the four remaining members carried on, Liam did take the time to explain Malik missing the event, “He’s got a tummy bug, so he’s not very well. We only found out this morning so we’re really sad. He is as well, that he can’t be here for our album release.”
Since the boys travel seperately due to security concerns, they did not realize Zayn hadn’t made the trip from London, England where One Direction recorded the single for Band Aid which was announced by Bob Geldof earlier that week.
“Zayn was taken ill after recording the Band Aid single at the weekend and was unfortunately not well enough to fly to the USA yesterday. He will join the band for promotion for the new album as soon as he possibly can,” a rep for Zayn stated.
Without Zayn, the rest of the band soldiered on as they performed several songs both off their new album as well as their past hits.
“I think this is the album we’re most proud of. It’s exciting and nervous at the same time,” Harry Styles commented about their new release.
“We’ve tried hard to make our music move with us a little bit, as we’ve gotten a little bit older and each album gets a little bit older,” Louis Tomlinson added.
