Vin Diesel Named His New Daughter After Paul Walker

The bond between actors Vin Diesel and Paul Walker went well beyond just co-starring in The Fast and the Furious franchise together and Diesel has been very vocal about how deeply Walker’s untimely death on November 30, 2013 has affected him.

Diesel recently welcomed his third child and on Monday March 23, and revealed on NBC’s Today show that he named her in honor of Walker. “I named her Pauline,” he told anchor Natalie Morales.

“He was in the room [when she was born]. There’s no other person that I was thinking about as I was cutting this umbilical cord. I just … knew he was there. It felt like a way to keep his memory a part of my family and a part of my world,” he explained.

Diesel, 47, has previously opened up about what a big part Walker played in Diesel’s transition into fatherhood and posted an emotional message to his Facebook page on the one year anniversary of Walker’s tragic death.

At an early Los Angeles screening of Furious 7, Diesel also gave a speech on the film being a labor of love and a legacy for Walker, where he got very choked up and teary-eyed talking about his late friend.

Pauline is the third child for Diesel who also shares daughter Hania, 6, and son Vincent, 4, with his longtime girlfriend, Paloma Jimenez, 31.
