‘The Masked Singer’ Reveals Celebrity Behind White Tiger

During April Fool’s edition of The Masked Singer on Wednesday, April 1, the show decided to crank it up a notch.

Viewers, audience and the judges got rick-rolled, Snoop Dogg caused a stir, we saw a lion dance on a stripper pole, and Masked Singer panelist Jenny McCarthy showed off her very hairy armpits – that was only half of what happened on this week’s episode too!

Tonight, Kitty, Night Angel, and Astronaut continued to be the show’s frontrunners in the Super Nine. Unfortunately, viewers and fans know the drill by now–we have to send one masked celebrity home!

The episode began off with celebrity guest judge Snoop Dogg and everyone being so excited until emcee Nick Cannon revealed he had tricked everyone because the rapper was actually impersonator “Eric from San Bernadino.”

The pranks didn’t just stop there, two-thirds of Group A’s performances were no joke. Turtle sang Steve Winwood’s “High Love,” Kangaroo performed the Dixie Chicks’ “Not Ready to Make Nice,” and White Tiger sang Right Said Fred’s “I’m Too Sexy.” To go with the sexy theme, a dancer in a lion costume got up on a stripper pole! Ahead of the big cat’s perform, they admitted: “I never sung in front of a crowd.”

Afterward, Cannon brought out a giant cutout of Ken Jeong to illustrate how enormous White Tiger is!

Then it was time for the audience to vote on who would join the bottom three of the night–and that appeared to be the White Tiger.

Next up was Group B, who left the sexy theme for a range of songs. First, Kitty sang Celine Dion’s “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now,” followed by Banana who performed Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama,” and lastly Frog sand Kris Kross’ “Jump.”

One again, it was time for the audience to vote on their favorite performances tonight, and the results showed that Banana’s performance was the least liked in all of Group B, meaning they’ll join be joining the bottom three.

Lastly, it was Group C’s time to shine! Night Angel sang Andra Day’s “Rise Up,” next up Rhino performed the Jonas Brothers’ “What a Man Gotta Do,” and last up was Astronaut who sang Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up.”

After voting was all said and done, Rhino joined his fellow bottom three contestants: Banana and White Tiger. It was up to the judges to send one of these masked singers home–or release them back to the wild– and this time it was White Tiger’s turn to return home.

The celebrity behind the White Tiger was none other than… former New England Patriots star and three-time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski! Following his elimination, he admitted to Entertainment Weekly that he wasn’t prepared for what he got himself into. “I’ve always wanted to learn how to sing. I’ve actually always wanted to learn how to dance, too. Once I got the opportunity, I really didn’t know exactly what I was getting into,” he said. “You pretend like no one even knew you existed underneath the costume, like that scene in the movie Big Daddy where the kid puts on sunglasses pretends no one can see him. I kind of felt like that. It grew me a pair.”

Now The Masked Singer‘s Super Nine is down to just eight contestants: Rhino, Night Angel, Astronaut, Turtle, Frog, Kitty, Banana, and Kangaroo.

Gronkowski will join other eliminated Masked Singer contestants so far: RobotLlamaMiss MonsterElephantMouseTacoBearSwan, and T-Rex.

Following his elimination, the former tight-end took to his Instagram to reflect on his time on the show. “What a time I had being on @maskedsingerfox. Thanks so much for having me on and helping to improve my one of a kind dance moves and sing my face off with my beautiful vocals. The White Tiger walks up and just takes presence on that stage! Learned so much during my time on the sow, thank you and huge shout out to all my new fans of my singing and performances,” he shared.

The Masked Singer airs every Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
